There's three left, Bowden owns one of the race cars, one of the other race cars was written off, no one knows anything about the guy who owns the road car. I can't remember about the other race car, I think it's owned by a dentist in Sydney but that might be the road car? Too lazy to wack the GT video in and check.

Dont forget that one of them was a Hardtop.

The only one that raced was actually used as a Rally car, very successfully.

No they weren't, all were sedans. The hardtop wasn't even out when the Phase 4 was made.

Positive. If I'm wrong I know 4Vman will set me straight, he's been looking for a while, has to be posting something. As far as I know the 3 race cars were track red and headed for the dealer team and the road car was green over silver. Forget which green though.

Besides being impossible, what would be the type of car, build date, engine type, trans type, paint and trim colours of a car with the following?

Vin prefix - JG65PR
Engine code - H
Trans code - N
Paint code - V
Trim code - P

Yes you'd have to look it up. It's also an impossible combination, so if anyone has it on their car I'd be shocked.

The rally Phase 4 was written off. The theory of the Hardtop was there may have been the possibility of the Phase 4 running gear from the written off rally car being put into a coupe body shell, but no one really seems to know wether it really happened or not.

Thats a crock of stories...bruce Hodgeson had the one written off, and the parts never made it to any coupe.....thats for sure

It wasnt put into a coupe. I remember seeing a doco on it, someone found the XA GT 4door AS a complete rally car, and bought it. Im not sure if they kept it in its rally form or bought it back to road spec.

I am very reliably informed that Bruce Hodgson sold the car he had (the rally car) to a person from Griffith, and that it was subsequently comprehensively written off near Goondiwindi. I'm not sure whether this was when the bloke from Griffith had it, or whether it was a subsequent purchaser. I understand that the wreck was parted out, although there wasn't much useful stuff left. The identification plates were kept and have not been used on another car (and won't be).

Unfortunately, at the time it wasn't considered anything terribly special, unlike now.

Cool! Looks like Im allowed to ask a question.. hmm what to ask?

Ok easy one for those who can research and given that we are on the run up to bathurst.

What model Falcons have won the Bathurst 500/1000 race?
Ok too easy, so give me year driver names and car numbers too.

(by model i mean XK, XL, XM up to AU, -and BA hope so!- just the two letters is all Im after, not after if it was gtho or whatever.)

To get you started
XC 1977 car1 Allan Moffat and Jacki Ickx

(ok it may have been built as XB but it looked like XC and was entered as XC so the books show it as XC)

(in 71 the XA was already out and in 73 the XB was the current but the XA won)

Anyone want to bite?

how many XE ESP's were made with the 4.9 litre and 4 speed manual option?

that would be a tough one because a new model dosn't get developed to a winning race car within a month or so. remember Bathurst was always 1st weekend in October after the new model release in September. Dickies XD was the 2nd chassis after the rock but all the hard work would have been sorted out the year before (when he hit the rock) along with Carter's help.
i'd be surprised if the EL wasn't in fact a EF chassis. as we know most race cars were just facelifts to the later style.
