Well that's how it was a few weeks ago when I inquired as "Bruce from Blackwater", a deposit would be taken and my name would go on a list for allocation.

99% of them arent phantoms. Theres atleast 10 on there that are genuine for sale in stock, either registered or demoed.

More than likely allowing people to spend the difference on the mods they would prefer, you can add a lot for over 10k

Hi all, to be honest this has been pretty poorly handled at all levels within Ford.

Don't know if the lack of supply has been an attempt to generate some sort of frenzy (a la Apple iPhones).

Unfortunately, I need a new car for work and so after nearly 30 years of being a Ford enthusiast and buyer, disappointingly I'm off to another manufacturer.

Ok so this is down to the customer, and they're fully aware of warranty conditions... Most of these parts have their own warranty anyway. But as an example.
10k difference got one customer coilovers, wheels, tune, intake & exhaust.

Down to if your dealer/salesman is happy to provide the option for you. If you look at my signature down below, you'll see i'm quite accustomed to modified vehicles.

Anchor this thread is about the factory blown xr8 not spending 10k on after market parts on the turbo 6 if you can shed Moore light on xr8 a heap of blue blood brother,s are inquisitive of when they are taking delivery of the first & lasts factory supercharged xr8 falcon due to there is no replacement for displacement v8 mate last Aus Henry.

Yeah cause I haven't been doing that for you guys at all....
Just answering questions.

Also, there is a replacement for displacement. It's called boost. XR8's have it, with a smaller displacement.

The DCB we received was allocation for now till December 15. And get this, Ford secured additional units for this allocation above the previous projected amount.....

My dealer rang me today to tell me my September 2014 ordered Smoke manual XR8 now has been allocated a build number and scheduled to be built in April. He mentioned 2 things of note, 1 due to the xmas/new year shut down, Ford were 2 weeks behind where they should be and 2 he has taken deposits on 15 Mustangs.

My dealer just phoned i ordered 23 oct.He tells me im first cab off the rank car build is may for june delivery .also he had to pass on the 1000.00 price rise.They gave me a 1000 discount in oct now they take it back.not real happy waiting 8 months and a price rise a little disappointed in the whole saga but its too late to reorder elsewhere as the wait will be next year.rant over

My dealer still hasn't given a date. After waiting patiently for 5 months, should the dealer ring me this week and ask for another grand I'm very likely going to tell them to shove it.

I think the dealers are waiting for orders to drop out as there are other potential buyers. My dealer also phoned this morning and broke the 1K price rise news. Waiting on June delivery (March when deposit placed last October). Waited so long so what the hell.

I got a call from my dealer today. I paid a deposit on the 22nd of November last year, and today they confirmed that my car will be built in June. No mention of any price rise.

Received news from the dealer today on my silhouette manual XR8. May build, delivered to Cairns mid June ready for me to fly to down from Weipa and drive it to the Townsville V8's in July. Then barge it home to my 30km of bitumin. I will be a happy camper if this goes to plan. Cheers Chris.

I honestly believe that if FPV had named the GS an xr8 instead of GS they would have sold loads more.

Not gonna drive it from Cairns to Weipa?? Joking, I lived in Cairns for 10 years, moved (home) to SA just shy of 4 years ago. Enjoy your car when you get it, I'm betting it will be one of a kind in Weipa

Possibly, the difference is every Ford dealer has the ability to sell XR8's as apposed to the GS being restricted to FPV specific dealers.

yes i suppose, i just feel the XR8 badge appeals to more people, when i think of Australian Ford performance cars, the first thing that comes to mind is GT then XR8, but im in my 20's, i grew up following e-series vehicles, which is why the current XR8 appeals to me a whole lot more than a GS ever did, & as much as a GT.
but im sure FPV had there reasons too.

FGX XR8 is fully loaded, GS was a rental spec XR6 with a fancy engine asking nearly $60k. It was never going to sell at that price.

Cairns to Laura is now all sealed road and would be a good drive The last 450km of dirt would be interesting however. I could just imagine pulling up at Musgrave or the Archer in an XR8 asking for PULP ! Can't even get PULP in Weipa so I will be bringing a 44 gallon drum every few months from Cairns like a few other guys do. Works out at about $2.50 litre. Seeing I only have 8km of 100kph zone it will be a very low mile vehicle.

Just spoke to my dealer to confirm my order, also told me of the price rise

paint went up from $350 to $500
car went up by $1K

So all up an extra $1150

End of the day it is still a very cheap GT
