They made 12 (I think it was) examples in some colour (I think ivory or green or something) for some tobacco company execs. The rest were GT Gold.

I think this one may be a trick question. Peter Brock has the race win but the Eggenberger Sierra's may have got the flag first before being disqualified 2 weeks later, am I right.

Yes it was a trick question, well done. I thought I'd at least get one or two people arguing it was Brock, ah well.

Trick question. What model was the first ever XD ESP based on, which was printed in the sales brochure (GL,Fairmont,S or Ghia).

Correct, it was originally going to be an option for the GL, not sure if they actually made any GL ESP's. I have the original sales brochures from the time, the September 1980 edition has the ESP option pack available on the GL, while the January 1981 edition has it available on Fairmont Ghia only. Maybe they decided to change it.

They actually made "GL 351 Interceptors" and contiued to make them until the XE.
An original 351 "XE Interceptor" is rarer than a 351ESP.
I would love to own a original XE Interceptor, who on here owns one ?

Interceptors as in highway patrol cars? They had some goodies such as seem welded bodies, stronger drivelines etc which made them much better than a standard GL. Did the XD interceptors get 9 inch diffs and toploaders.
