Just quickly looking up figures (correct me if I'm wrong), but XR6T Falcon 0-100 in 5.2. seconds (Wheels figure, could be old, but it would be ballpark) vs Octavia VRS 0-100 in 6.8 seconds. Is 2 seconds to 100 km/h really going to make that much difference? Even 5 seconds for that matter- it's not like it takes a whole minute longer to catch up.

Here's the same European ****box at work :

Go to 4:20 min to see it in road view.

(That looks like the Via Carolina, my old milk run, though I never got up to those speeds but was passed by many Audis and BMWs doing just that!)

You gotta ask, at the bottom of your hearts, whether those big cars are really needed any more. Judging by the world list posted by Wretched before, not many jurisdictions seems to think so. If the Falcon goes, surely there has to be a role for the likes of Mondeo and Focus to replace it. Think positive.
nice dudes dont sit on 100kmh

Yank coupes like the Mustang will probably do the job although I would still have a question mark functional access to the back seats. Yes these days if you chase someone and have to apprehend them then a GD vehicle will attend but it’s not good enough to simply say that HWP or pursuit cars don’t need to carry back seat passengers or crims – because you just don’t know what scenario is waiting for you around the corner.

Personally I think the time is nigh for an enterprising car maker to make a purpose designed Police sedan based on a production car that is sold globally. Like the philosophy Ford has with the Toreass Police Interceptor in the states, just not in the 2 tonne Tessie guise of the Taurus and available in RHD, globally. Would make ownership costs and repair costs for Police forces much easier to bear.

And like Pottery has suggested, not everyone hammering along on the highway or freeway is Mr Nice Guy...

Haha I wish, talking about the long red/blue emergency ones with the whites in the middle.

Wasn't aware how much the rotators were distracting, only ever fitted and tested them, never had the chance to drive with them on especially at night.

A 4 door performance RWD sedan suited for the police force that's rugged and can take a few knocks now and then.... Suitable for a global market... Oh Wait.....

Could probably use the 2L version of the Ecoboost Mondeo, except not the weak watered down version we got, the European 177KW variant and beef it up a bit.
