I forgot about them, were they are really early attempt at a camry hatchback, like just after the celica got fat and boring with the cockroach style and it was the last hurrah for that chassis?

Similar note, I doubt you'll find this (along with the rusty celica/camry/t18), the nissan gazelle...
E: I mean the 1980 similar hatchabck style gazelle like this https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/HER..._turbo_xe.html
Not the notchback later gazelle which was the forerunner here to the silvia and sxx series of nissans

Yeah man, nissan ute for work, toyota lexan for the personal. If fuel consumption is an issue, maybe a holden apollo or nova?

A lot of people used to hang **** on the Magna, but I think an AWD Ralliart with a supercharger on the stock V6 could bit of a weapon.

I owned a few V6 Magna's, the last one was a TL (Final shape before the 380) VR-X Manual. Had pacemakers, exhaust and intake. Was a great, well built, reliable thing... And the Butt Hurt on V6 Commodore and 6 pot falcon owners when they would pick on me from the lights and get nowhere was always priceless...

There where a couple of Blown and Twin Turbo ones getting around that where great sleepers at the time (2006-7)

Well, I already hotted up an EA so know all about doing up cars with a crap reputation, and to be honest I made it a cool car, so yeah, I'd do it again. In Fairmont Ghia guise it was a very comfy car and pretty stylish for it's time. With the Multipoint 3.9 and a 5 speed, it actually went pretty quick too. They were certainly by no stretch perfect (front end alignment was always working it's way out, power windows etc gave a few headaches) but it certainly wasn't the POS that people made them out to be.

The 3.9 with a 5 speed was actually a pretty quick bit of gear for the time. 15.7 quarter mile if i remember correctly.

My old man wound one off the clock, out the back of broady while on his way to the plant one day back in the late 80’s.

The 3.9 set all kinds of speed records.

Fastest Return to Dealer.
Fastest Disposal.
Fastest Trip to the Wreckers

One of my mums friends had a mitsubishi scorpian. The 2 door sigma thing back when i was a kid. It was brown with a brown interior. I know only a handful sold, and i also know only a smaller handfull of people modified them, but from memory, in such a small car the 3.8L commodore v6 made them go pretty good. I would drive one of those, especially brown on brown. With a 3.8 v6, welcome to brown town.

One of my brothers mates bought one of those way back when. After he wrote of the mk1 escort gt. He didnt pay that much for it, but it had a 90s alfa efi v6 in it, so not 'pure', but it did things like corners and stuff.

Hi guys,
They say ( who ever they are) that the Chrysler Centura was not best car made.
It came out in a 4 cylinder but also 3.5 litre or 4 litre 6 cylinder engines and i can imagine the 6 cylinder engine models went pretty good.

Leyland cars get my vote like the Morris Marina and the Triumph stag which was a great looking car for its time. Triumph was to twin 2 inline four cylinder into 2.9 litre V8 and a 3 litre V8.

They had cooling problems, water pump problems, timing chain problems, Head gasket problems.

I got my car serviced at a place , where it looked like the owners son had the motor out of his 70's Skoda , every time I went there
One of those rear engine jobs with louvers in the back

it looked like a good technical challenge , and it was a rather square shaped car

My mate had a 280ZX. Many good times in that car.

But you could drop a LS1 in that very easy for not much money and it would be a lot of ****en fun

Perhaps try a Jaguar XJ12 or XJS and enjoy the awesomeness of the V12 and its incredible complexity and random reliability

As long as those Jags don't have "Lucas Electrical" because if they do they will be breaking down a lot!

Just quietly I think they do!

I quite like the XJS12, would prefer in white or black.

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-6058097/?Cr=0

Probably not in red but at this price point beggers can't be choosers I guess

This is another for my quality ****box projects:

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...-4659900/?Cr=4

I'd love one of these 4L I6 Jeep Cherokee's, one of my old customers had one of these, both the front ****ing doors fell off from the latches snapping off from the body, we had to repair the wiring every time one of the doors fell off and he got the car welded up and repaired.

Turbo hanging off the side of that 4L I6 would make a weapon I reckon.

I like the 1980's Daimler Double Six best. in 1980 they cost $62500.
A 1980 5.8L Ford LTD cost $19772.

Might be due for a Chrysler PT Cruiser I reckon - Chrysler/Jeep/Dodge are surely top rank of the modern ****box:

https://www.carsales.com.au/cars/det...19925150/?Cr=0

Interior looks like it was made with a 3D printer, the shifter handle sourced from the discount aisle of Sexyland and to top it off a 4sp auto, behind a 2.4L 4 cylinder engine in a car that weighs 1600kg, its got solid runs on the board for ****box of the naughties.

There's actually a bloke in my area who owns 5 heavily modified examples of these things, hats off for eccentricity.

Hi Guy's,
This is a great post "crap cars of the past". I could write five pages on this topic.

1. Holden camira.
2.Leyland Morris/Marina Six.
3.Ford Cortina six the car was overpowered and if pushed too hard it was hard to keep on the road as it under steered and oversteered simultaneously.
4.Datsun 120y Automatic.
5.Toyota Lexcen.

Thats just a few i can think off.

A mate of mine and a good mate of 30 years went and brought a second hand XJ6 Jag.
I told him all about the problem with the Lucas Electrics but he wound'nt listen to me and went ahead and brought it.

I took him out to get the car and on the way back he stoped. I got out of my car and said "what are we stopping for"?
he said " the car just stoped".

My reply was after i finished laughing " Lucas prince of darkness strikes again".

He told me "you can go and get ****" and it did'nt help when the NRMA turned up and said "sorry mate it will have to be towed". I burst out laughing again.

Who could get tired of getting behind the wheel of this 80's baby every day?

An imp looks nothing like a viva though?

My old man put a cf Bedford motor in one of his old vivas. Went ok for what it was.
