Thats some seriously impressive performance there......it seems to have a rather "surprised" look on its face......as if someone just stuck a finger up its bum!

As Clarkson said, "you're not a true petrol head until you've owned an Alfa Romeo". That said having lost 14K on a 147 in a year, I've endured enough of that pain. One thing most do agree on though is that recent Alfa's are all gorgeous...

Lost it a bit in the 80's but now are coming back.

And they did have twin cams, De dion rears, 4 wheel discs a long time ago.

It's not like the Tribeca was IMHO, it's based on the Alfa 8c, which if you watched TopGear Clarkson said was "impossibly beautiful" I believe. Alfa's have had that V at the front for ages anyway, nothing new about it.

Mate, you just don't get it, do you? Alfas are an object of passion, something that gets in your blood and never lets go (witness my 9 in the past 10 years, and the Alfa Romeo tattoo on my back)...then again, how can I expect someone with:

Biography:
Love XY-XF Falcons

...to know what is a hideous car, and what isn't....nor to get the whole passion thing.

I think they also invented variable cam timing in the 80's.

Mate personal attacks of this nature will not be tolerated here. You like Alfa's good luck to you, he likes XY-XF Falcons, something that he has a lot more supporters in considering this is a Ford Forum.

Try getting your hands on one then let alone now though... hot hatches are supposed to be the poor mans performance car. I reckon you'll find that...... now brace for it cos its a Frenchy..... the Peugeot 205 GTI that's also been and gone would be considered the ultimate hot-hatch.

Plus I love all the "hot hatches are for poofs" nay sayers, what do you reckon is keeping car makers alive now????....

As a comparison, The new Focus is rated at 0-100 in 5.9seconds and the Mito GTA in 5.0 seconds.
One things for sure and that it's going to be a good time for sport hatch lovers.

One thing many do not consider when purchasing a hot hatch, if they use the performance their 4cyl drinks just like a V8...

I'm a ford man through and through but my first car a 68 Guilia Super 1.6 twin cam twin webbers 5 speed on the floor 4 wheel disks, Ford had nothing like this 3 on the tree wow. Alfas were ahead of the pack for a long time I would't own one of these but it has 0 - 100 figures same as my FG turbo.

My god... Sierra RS owners are gonna be happy with you... Yes it's a hatch, but you may need to check your definition of hot hatch. :

Yup. Premium small cars were predicted to be a growth sector 5 years ago. Baby boomers turning in to empty nesters who don’t need a big 4 seater car anymore. People living in cities (i.e. where small cars are easier to park, get through traffic, etc) who don’t want to sacrifice too much comfort or style. They are all contributing factors. BMW’s timing was about right with the MINI, Audi were a bit premature with the A2 but look like they will do better with their A1. Everyone seems to be jumping on to the bandwagon. There can be a lot of profit selling a small car loaded to the hilt with luxury features and options (e.g. $70k for a MINI cabrio with all of the fruit).

I’ve always loved small cars. My first ride in a “hot” car was a mate’s Appendix J Mini Cooper S – he’d outqualify Mustangs and Falcon Sprints at Phillip Island. As my signature used to say, given the choice between sprinting a great handling example of a FWD car and a poor handling example of a RWD car, I’ll take the FWD.

I've had 2 hatches. Both focus. 1.8 SR and the XR5 which I sold a month ago. The XR5 is a hell of a car. I had a range of mechanical issues with mine, so the reason why I got rid of it. Would love the new Focus RS.

Uglier?
Have you seen an 2007 8C Competizione?
Have you seen a 1970’s Giulia sedan?
The very first Suds weren't too pretty.
The 1980’s penultimate update of the Spider was a shocker.
