To say I'm unhappy with some of the drivel posted here is a gross understatement.
The unwarranted name calling and attacks will stop, in all areas of the site, or some people are about to experience difficulties in accessing the site. Pull your damned heads in and grow up a bit. |

ok sorry to all those people I offended in my last post, i was just taking the mickey.
Yift: I worked as a tyre fitter for 6 years thanks, and I know from what I saw in the trade NEVER trust any tyre shop. The guys get paid naff all and are expected to pump car after car out every day, and when your under the pump mistakes happen. I always check my wheel nuts after getting any work done which requires removing a wheel by any mechanical/tyre shop. Call me paranoid, but its kept me alive! And I was actually talking about wear, not damage through overtightening... yes studs will break and nuts will flare if they are incorrectly fitted. But it amazes me how many customers used to come in and complain of a bad vibration and ask for a wheel balance, pop the hubcaps off to find the wheel nuts put on backwards!

dad actually caused the same problem to mums car once.
dad being dad, once he gets a new toy he HAS to use it, so he got a rattle gun, thought na i wont touch my car ill do mums, so he did, didnt do em tight enough and the wheels almost came off hahah, it was a great few months while mum was still fuming about it!

rattle guns will also strech the thread on both nut and stud.we've had a few nissan patrols lose there wheel nutz

I wonder if the nuts were done up with just a touch of weight on the wheels and that was enough to slightly leave the rim not quite hard up against the hub/rotor? Or if the nuts were done up one after the other and not every second one so it appears the nuts are all tight but there is still enough give in the wheel with the weight of the car on it.
I hope I've explained them clear enough!
