Again I seem to be missing the bigger picture after reading the article.

Kewell comes back in the twilight of his career, goes against the governing body which can only be interpreted as a money grab and this is good exposure for FPV?

Not sure if any publicity is good publicity in this instance.. if marketing was all about having a Ford logo on a news page, there are a lot cheaper ways to achieve it.

Well to me aligning with an international sporting star like Kewll is a refreshing change from the tradition that both HSV and FPV have had of aligning with local relatively lesser known motorsport identities.
People criticize FPV's lack of marketing effort or creativity but this represents a new broader more appealing approach and thinking outside the square, i applaud it.

Exactly..with all due respect if it needs explaining then perhaps dont be overly fussed about it.

I believe he hasn't signed his player contract yet and it includes a clause which allows for pre-existing deals to remain...so his manager has been working hard to sign up as much as possible before he signs his A-league contract.

Yep, I can see it now. Eric Bana as Peter (aka "Poida") from the Full Fontal days doing doughnuts giving the thumbs up out the window!

That would be brilliant!

I can just see it 'Kewell Harry, Cool Car' - will that get HSV owners to FPV in droves, I dont know?

normally expired/out to pasture footy players sell grooming products or sweets/snacks....

Hi all,
Wamackie from Australan FourFourtwo forums here (http://au.fourfourtwo.com/forums/def...px?g=forum&c=7) just stopping by to say that, from the soccer supporters' end, we llike the deal with Harry and FPV. A lot of soccer fans are car fans also, so it's a good fit. Your forum I've linked to on the soccer website, so a bit of cross-promotion isn't a bad idea.

May Ford create a modern day XY GT with FPV we hope (and Harry Kewell doing a burnout on Sydney harbour Bridge for the TV ad)

Hmmm,FPV is Aussie and Kewell is when he wants to be.

Could have chosen a better celebrity imo.

How do you know that a couple of celebrities didn't just decide to buy a FPV and in the process of doing so, marketing opportunities surfaced. I reckon there is a fair chance the other identity is also driving around in a FPV right now.

Very unfair, while he was young he had no choice. Why would he stay in Australia and play for a local club when he could earn millions and be pushed by the best in the world overseas?

Just open your mind up a little bit.

Its so simple it hurts, he perused his goals, showed ambition and has an appetite for success, these are the qualities in which FPV want to promote..its as easy as 1 + 1

The other part of your post has been dealt with by Harry himself and is superfluous to the point I was making.

Well actually FPV is 51% owned by British company Prodrive and 49% owned by Ford Australia... So if you think of it like that it's probably a good match...

I love how Holden use their current V8supercar drivers (which consumers think, "yes, this bloke knows what he is talking about-because he is one of the best drivers in Australia and he drives for a living") to sell their performance car's and Ford use some Rich Soccer player who is technically an Australian. Soccer players don't know **** and 99% can't drive for ****.

I live in the country now but I'm holidaying in Perth and I've been getting around the streets and been to a few shows/cruises and I have only seen 1 FPV Supercharged GT. As apposed to more then 2 dozen latest GTS/R8's.

Holden marketing wins again.

probably Tim Cahill - not Kewell

If your figures are correct how much of a bad look is it for FPV to have Kewells childish/loser behaviour (which almost get him sent off) on the news this weekend compared to HSV grining that Tander was the lead story on every station last week for being a champ.

Kewell will only get worse as he comes to terms with the drop in quality to A league
