i refuse to believe all the doom and gloom, because if you are studious enough, there is enough evidence out there to suggest the future of ford manufacturing in australia is quite bright.

also, show me one instance where i have said everything is rosy at FoA.

which of my views are extreme?

Basically everthing you say is that its all ok, and if anyone says otherwise they are a hater. Thats an extreme view.

But anyway we're going way off topic here.

Ford sold almost 8,500 cars in October

Thats a bloody good result regardless of the sales mix.

It gives Ford

1) A good bottom line as they have said for some time now they prefer profit over volume
2) Lots of breathing space to figure our what to manufactur in Aus.

If they were selling 5,000 a month combined you would be worried. But their not. Their doing well and should be applauded for it.

Surely all the guys who are worried about Ford's bottom line and also the Ford dealer's bottom line (i.e profit per car) would be quite happy to pay the full RRP....(maybe pay a little more on top). Ford would like that.

Or are we all just self interested consumers who want the item/brand they want for the cheapest price possible. (I am)

I say put Predey on Q&A along with some ex Ford employees and component workers made redundant because of falling sales volume, the head of Holden marketing and put some ex Ford customers who had warranty issues in the audience. Then watch Predey go all positive over them haters. God help anyone who suggests that a wheel was about to or did fall off their Territory. lol

But on a serious note there is certainly room for a positive outlook on the forums and Predey does give us all that - in spades.

I see Prydey as an antidote to the constant harping that everything wrong with Falcon is all Ford's fault.
I think we should all be grateful that provision is still being made for local products and if Ford USA was as
ruthless as some mad out, they would have killed Falcon years ago, instead they let FoA keep Falcon....

..... well least there is a 'slight' balance between 90% of the doom and gloomers ...... and the others, including both Predey and Prydey, who try and keep things on the positive side. There is enough around that enjoy kicking the guts out of both Ford AU & Ford US to make us all shed a tear.

....... but lets leave this behind us and talk about the important things ........ like FORD selling enough cars to be profitable = keeping the Terri and Falcon AU made.

Agreeing wholeheartedly with jpd80. If Headoffice wanted to kill off the Falcon, they really could do it tomorrow, last week, or 5 years ago. Why do it now when the pieces seem to be coming together and FoA seems to be plodding along at a good pace. Always been profit over quantity ...... and quantity doesn't always = profit. No one here really understands what profit there is to FoA for each car produced and how much profit is required to keep things productive.

Amazing....heaps of ads for Ranger and Focus and they sell well.
No ads for Falcon and they lag behind....Mmmmmmmm
Perhaps advertising does sell products....Maybe thats why TV is flooded with ads

Just a thought... then again.. whos knows

Ranger and focus are both types of vehicle that the consumer is saying they want. They are both highly competitive segments so advertising makes sense.

If you want a big rwd Aussie car you have two choices, ie not a competitive segment, and no one really wants them at the moment anyway, so who would they be advertising to?

Those who do want a falcon or commodore don't need an ad telling them about a falcon or commodore. Look how much Holden advertises their commo... How are their sales trending again?

Whinging about fords advertising is getting a bit like flogging a dead horse...

Might be a crazy, out there idea, but maybe, just maybe ford knows what they are doing? Pretty sure they have been doing this car selling stuff for a few years now.

-The large car segment of the total new car market is now approximately 5%

-822 404 new cars have been sold to date.

-That is 41120 Large cars sold

-Australia's population 22,620,600

-Less then .2% of Australians bought a new large car.

-Of that .2%, even less will pay attention to the add....even less with the intent of buying a car.

All of a sudden, wasting money on TV advertising doesn't seem that bright. Best to spend money on the segments that are booming, where there is greater competition.

Common sense before stupid conspiracy theories!

But whats interesting in all of this is that the Mazda 3/Toyota Hilux will sell less than 45,000 cars to be the top selling car. To me it seems like 50,000 isn't possible to achieve anymore and the fact that Commodore sold 80000-100000 at it's peak is saying something :/

Precisely. Even the top seller these days struggles to get to even half the numbers of the Falcon or Commodore in its heyday. It demonstrates how diverse and hyper-competitive our new car market is in Australia.

Great to see Ford move more Falcons this month, and make third best seller for the month.

You're havin' a laugh. 2012 Falcon XT under 4,000kms are $22k-$25k. XR6's are about $3k more.

2012 Falcon XT, 3,000kms - $23k.

Looks like the XT is a January build that's been hanging around the dealers for quite a while....

It's not reasonable to conclude that all XTs are that price, I think they are a lot rarer to find
because dealers don't like keeping them as floor stock...

Either way, that is damn good buying in those two examples for someone.

I saw a manual XR6 Turbo ute for $38,990 the other week . Nearly offloaded my 09 6T on it straight away.....but I've gotta wait until 2014 at the earliest

Such good buying out there at the moment. Cant see any reason to complain about prices....

Also, They are advertising to get you into dealers......they don't need to sell you a car via an ad, they need to sell you one at the dealers. Who hasn't walked into a dealer at some point and been steered away from the car they were looking at, in favour of the $50,000 XR6 Turbo or G6E Turbo. And I bet we all wanted it, I know i did. I even drove a Ranger, still wanted the GS...in Swift...

I am sure if an XT was required a price under 30k is very very achievable.

They are NOT that over priced in my reckoning .
