Indeed, hence the reason I'm working on some camera rigs so this shouldn't be a problem. Now if only Wilson can make his EF ride smoothly :P

or if we're near the westgate fwy again, or another large fwy, we could do a staggered shot, john on the right with alex in there, looking back at three other cars, staggered backwards or forwards to the far lane. That'd look great.

Alex, those shots are amazing! I must ask, are they touched up *much* in photoshop, or are the effects etc created by the light sources and highlighted colours acheived with actual physical filters? Top work

The light sources and everything are the exposure times i think. Alex may be able to elaborate. They're only photoshopped to touch up and fix slight things..

Yes all my images are photoshopped. But not in the way you think. The star effects with the lights are a direct result of the small apertures you use in a large SLR lens, it can't be achieved with a point and shoot camera. The only other work I do is cleaning up the odd dust spot, adjusting levels, saturation and colour balance. I sharpen the images a tad and that's about it.

The most heavily photoshopped one though is the one with the bonnets up, that was actually 8 separate images blended together, with each frame having a different engine bay lit up. Other than that, the one of Adam's XR8 with the white pillar in the background, that is 2 images of the same thing but with a different exposure in each, because if you expose for the car, the pillar blows out too bright, and if you expose for the pillar, the car is too dark.

Does that answer your question?

Alex

Yes Alex, that does answer my question My mother is a photography teacher and has the exact same digital SLR as yours AFAIK. I thought the lens effects with the lights you got may have been through the use of a filter on the lense (old school as!) I was more intested in how much you played with the color saturation + contrast levels etc, as they seem to be the most prominent feature in the pictures for me. Essentially I was wondering how much was actually achievable in the taking of the picture in order to get the beautiful color contrasts throughout your pictures

The above photo looked exactly the same on the camera screen as it does now, might have been some small cleaning up but the colour looks the same.
When i seen it on the camera i knew i wanted it and seeing it larger confirmed it

the car actually looks pretty good like that - blue is the new carbon fibre ;p

makes it look more unique than it already did - i'd leave it that way.

You're making me blush! Seriously though, if you want photos, just come ask! There are too many people and I don't know who owns which car and I can't go around asking 50-60 people, so just come up and say hi, introduce yourself and say 'Get off your *** and photograph my car!'

John, I told you last night I'm not a long term sort of guy, it was only supposed to be a one night stand! So stop being so damn clingy!

maybe (if it's convenient with you of course) those, inclduing myself, who would like some photo's taken of their cars should meet up an hour or so earlier, if there's decent light at the first point, take care of some of the cars before hand ?

i wouldnt get him to go to all this effort unless your very keen on buying some prints. he puts alot of effort into his work and the cost of equiptment is not cheap...plus he's got to eat :P

Usually the meet points are very poorly set up for a photoshoot, you often have to pick them very carefully. And as a result you often have to do it after the meet. And I won't shoot unless I'm completely satisfied with the location. Hence my plan to hold more dedicated photo shoot meets at a location of my choosing.

Alex, i reckon you should start charging people to take the pics in the first place. That will filter out all the tire kickers ;) Except me of course... ;)

I'm not going to charge for shots I do at a meet, because I'm going there either way. If its a private shoot not on a meet, then yes there is a charge.
