100% correct.
I have accidentally popped many of both styles in my job. Hit the edge on anything hard and its game over. This is why most balustrades will have glass fully encapsulated, or the top edge protected. Look for it and you'll notice it. Alternatively, there needs to be a backup fall prevention tied off elsewhere so if the glass goes, you dont.

However, toughened laminate obviously pops just like a solid panel, thousands of pieces, except stays together. Make a pretty heavy thud too when they pop.

Just checked the replacement screen in the FG at various angles from inside & outside & no wavy lines apparent.
As far as identification, near the bottom of the screen is the wording "Australian Autoglass".
Hi Blue... Mine was replaced with one from Australian Autoglass and same...looked exactly same as OEM one that cracked.

Were they the original OEM supplier to Ford?

I remember my AU had SFH glass which was Chinese I believe?

Windscreen itself is not OEM, and of course has the required waviness in it compared to OEM.About every 150-200mm across.

Advertising (and price) does not automatically equal quality !
Same business put the incorrect $2000 windscreen into a friends SUV, and tried every excuse under the sun to not replace it. Technically unroadworthy without demisting in that case, I had been warned so I didn't bother taking it any further...
Had a Ford dealership put a new windscreen in the old man's Fiesta ST - wasn't going to get our usual mob to do it because if they got the sensor in the mirror wrong I'm happy for it to be the dealerships problem

They just subbied it out to a mobile mob who brought the wrong screen

New screen has chipped pretty easily.

My Focus is well overdue for a new windscreen, massive crack from top left down to about past the passenger sun visor, will get local independent mob to do that for me, last time I used them was 5+ years ago, $220.
