Apparently that is all it is a rumor.
It was spurred on when Fiat and Mazda decided to build a sports car together (Alfa and MX5). Fiat has since quashed any rumor of them buying a stake in Mazda.

Regarding their loss.

As for the Mazda 6, I like it, I have liked all the models of the Mazda 6 this one though is far more mature and elegant.
The Mondeo is a different beast, I'm very keen to see it in wagon format

I'm just about to pick up my 2007 Mazda 6 MPS, on tarmac they drive better can the Subi's constant AWD (just not on gravel/dirt). Unless your driving sedately in a straight line, they are normally a 70/30 plit due to the power they put through the front wheels.

After extensive test driving, I found it to be the best sporty medium car, with features, reliability, price, insurance. Aluminium turbo can handle 19psi relatively comfortably. Will end up being my daily drive and Taga car. (Mrs said no to the RX8, not practicle enough ).

Back on topic, car looks good, I doubt it would be 100% as the concept. Gone a different approach to the Mondeo more feline less angles. Doesn't look better just different IMO.

Ian Callum is the one responsible for Jaguar's new design language, and funnily enough his brother Moray Callum was lead designer at Mazda.

That said, Moray wasn't responsible for this Mazda6, but he was the one who started the revitalized design language.

Looks really beautiful, although i personally don't see the point in such big brakes on a car that was (almost) always fwd and powered by a 4cyl.

The key to this new M6[sic] is the price, wants to kick off at $29k [less than now]

Warranty needs to be longer, as does the service interval, and capped/fixed too

Right on! It's a pity that Ford did not use more (or in fact any) Jaguar styling cues when they owned Jaguar. Imagine if the AU had been more Jaguar like in its lines, and that could have flowed through to now 10 or 12 years later.

They would have had the style and the engines to bring the cat to the masses through the Falcon. Opportunity missed.

Be that as it may, it was the turning point model for when Commodores over took Falcons as the favourite car, and Falcon sales have been in decline ever since. I bought an AU brand new, I'm just stating the bleeding obvoius.

Imagine if it had looked like a Jag instead. Would have left the Commodore for dead.

Why did Jag have to go and name the car XF. This image always springs to mind when X and F are together.

Loving the look of the mazda 6, to be honest I have always loved the look. However the last model wasnt as pretty as the model before IMO. The mondeo also looks nice. I think they should fire whoever chose those rims though

That's the beauty of it, the Mazda shows a hint of a Jag with a difference but the Mondeo all out copies an Aston front end. I doubt this mondeo is going to sell in my opinion.

Im glad they have dropped the awful "altezza" lights too, toyota seem to be persisting but they are horrid IMO.

This car looks really nicely balanced.

Awesome comparison there AU Mont...bit scary. People have a crack at the Chinese...

I love the look of the front.

Had a CX-5 in at work, and the chrome line in the grill is continued in the headlights...

Nice, flowing design''s from Mazda at the moment...

Most interesting is perhaps the coupe? Maybe they mean a pillarless sedan like the VW.

Very nice looking car. Brakes look awesome though doubt any variant would get them anywhere near that big and you don't need them anyway just adds unnecessary cost.

If they can keep the production version practically close enough to the concept it will be a winner.

MPS version would be good but with a good split or RWD bias instead of FWD. Having said that the previous version pulled alright so it would just make it feel better I'd say.

No I haven't seen any of the wagon yet.

I reckon the current 6 wagon is one of the best looking wagons on the road, so it'll be interesting to see what they've come up with.

Wow, that thing is ugly! I'm a huge fan of the current Mazda 6 (both in terms of looks and driving experience), and while the styling of the outgoing model is much maligned, in my opinion it creams the new model!

I'm also hoping that there is no dynamic regression in the transition from old model to new model. Buy the current diesel wagon while on run out, in my view it tops the medium segment (purely because the 2.2 diesel manual Mondeo isn't available here).

To me it has lost alot of its flair in the translation from Takeri concept to the production model. Much like the CX5 did from the Minagi concept.

The wagon gets revealed in production form next month I beleive.

It's a pity the new Mondeo has been pushed back to 2014. I was hoping to update our current Mazda 6 next year and pit the new Mondeo against the new 6.

Has anyone seen how big these things are going to be? It is 130mm longer and 45mm wider than the outgoing model.

New Mazda 6
Width: 1840mm
Length: 4865mm

FG Falcon XT
Width: 1868mm
Length: 4955mm
