You do realise their job requires that they arrive at their destination is quickly and as safely as possible, don't you?

I'm sure it's been covered but due to discounts they get, they end up breaking even and I have heard cases where they end up ahead on dollars when it comes to sell their cars.

So where do you believe the money should be spent, getting a police officer to their destination would be high up on the list of priorities if you ask me.

The amount of times that the 'van is tied' up is far too common. If you're car has been stolen, they don't really care about it.

Ever wonder why so many people call 000 to report a stabbing, when it's really a verbal argument? Some people get desperate for a response, any response.
Rather than derailing the thread, I've sent a PM.

I Chat regulary with the boys in blue when I attend persons trap accidents, Last I heard NSW ordered 10 new F6's and within 2 weeks 3 of them had already been written off. (all 10 were located in sydney)

And yes all the Hwy cops in qld hate the aurion with a passion as its too hard to turn on the highway. the turning circle is so large that most of the time they need to do a 2 point turn.

They then expained how the F6 has no trouble doing a u turn!!! :

maybe they might finally catch the ****s in their skylines and rexies driving like they do around here, while i get done for doing 80 in a 70 zone...
i know i was in the wrong, but what ive seen these people do is ridiculous, and most of them are on their ps, which is supposed to be illegal to start off with...
but yeah there are a lot of them getting around in f6s,even saw one in his vt ss the other day...

our poor blokes still getting around in the ol' SV6 Highway Pursuit car complete with fluoro orange checkered stickers and all sorts. Have seen it pull some one over though, they were trying to overtake our footy bus and moved to the right lane to have a look, had to swerve back to the left lane when they saw the cops coming the other way 50 mtrs ahead. the cops went passed, swerved left threw the handbrake on did a 180 and had him pulled over about 10 seconds later. damn fast.

Unmarked.... the best i've seen them come up with was a VE Omega! We dont have high speed chases up here though, they mostly tag behind someone until they are presented with a reason to pull them over. Otherwise they got a few stationwagons and Landcruisers unmarked also. They like picking ya up for street drinking on the way home from parties etc. No Blue Oval driving Blue Boys up here.

Not sure if this was mention but the main reason behind the police using F6's etc is they are a high powered reliable car able to chase down most vehicles on the road. Resale value do count a little but as most know the car a purchased at a heavily discounted price and pre modified to hand the conditions the will be used for.

i was having a laugh with some mates today about seeing a high performance police car with p plates!

thats what these ridiculous rules do, so to anyone who wants to break the law and drive a turbo or V8 car on their P's...become a cop! haha

ok, so i can understand the resale point of view, but i dont believe speed is an issue, as a standard na6 bf can do over 200ks, more than enough. braking and handling are very important, but im sure an XR would be capable enough.
ahh well.. whatever

sorry but i don't believe the bit about chipped and worked,,, thats going to go well with the government accountants and ford warrenty , i reckon the cop was feeding you crap, just like the people that reckons their falcon ex police cars are chipped and has more power than standard. : :
and i don't get why they need to get "coached" at bathurst? its not like their gonna be entering the bathurst 24 hour race , i'm sure the highway patrol/ or whoever gets to drive these type of vehicles has the existing capabilities to handle these cars, rather than putting a "newb" behind the wheel of one.

In Strathfield 2 weeks ago I saw a black Kia Magentis as a marked police car complete with lights and siren.
My stupid phones camera (N73) malfunctioned temporarily prohibiting me from taking a photo. I was going to caption it with "One of the first signs your police force has to make cutbacks".

On a serious note though, a KIA? That thing would be lucky to pursue someone with a walking frame, let alone get to emergencies on time. What were they thinking with that chunkashit?

BEWARE BRISBANITES!

I have spotted on the Gateway motorway recently an Obsidian black pearl coloured Subaru Liberty 2.5GT B spec, latest model with the familiar bonnet scoop, booking a motorist, and today a black VE SV6 Commodore, both unmarked.
Also a red H/P TRD Aurion with copper pointing his radar south at the toll booths on the north bound side.

84RGE and myself have seen the same car. Booking someone just south of Caloundra exit on the Bruce.

Like someone posted earlier, treat every car as an undercover, because seriously... you never know.

the days of an undercover car being a base spec commo or falcon with steel rims and antennas all over the place are long gone!

Mate this is crap - someone is having a lend. The only modded cars driven by police these days are confiscated street cars (Very rare) or undercover officers.

They dont mod new cars that are used as marked or unmarked HWP or GD cars.

I am not sure what the last car they chipped was but I am guessing that probably since about 1997 (LS1)? 200kw/220kw AU XR8's they have not been chipped - anyone know for sure when they stopped?

I'm just impressed that there's someone here who actually knows the difference between 'unmarked' and 'undercover'. One is very easy to pick, the other you never will!

do undercover even bother with small traffic offences?
i would think they have bigger fish to fry .

i've only ever seen "unmarked" police cars pull people over but the officer is always in full uniform.
