With that situation, in a perfect world, one would wish the helicopter would have a special ray gun that would isolate the ecu in all the cars in that area, then it would be a foot race between the coppers and the bad guys.

I have never seen anything like that. They must of been scared of going to the slammer. See how fast they could run!

for sure, when the 4WD was sitting there they really should have given it a nudge from both directions, both cop cars could have. sounds excessive and unessessary, but if you do the sums i.e.: insurance premiums/cost for damages compared to heaps more police hours trying to get them PLUS potential for a fatal prang/more damage down the road, you'd find that it would be heaps more cost effective AND safer just to take that car out right when you can

if you go and pinch someone's car then you should instatly forfiet any rights. if the cops plough you and you bang your head then stiff sh it. i respect REAL cops, but traffic cops who spent their pitiful life handing out lame fines don't register with me as decent folk. at least this could be their chance to do a real service

Just amazes me how some are the experts compared to those actually doing the job in the heat of the moment. Easy sitting with a lap top and mouse to be the ultimate arm chair critic.

Discussion is OK but there is a thin line to the topic so please don't cross it.

I like how people say that the police are causeing the chase, yet, its only the helicopter chasing.

The police cars are quite a distance away...

The kind of people that do this kind of thing are usually soft whimps who can't do the time for whatever crime they are about to be punished for.

Wrenches my gut to see so many innocent civillians put at risk because some belter thinks it's ok to play these kind of games no matter what the original offence.

Incredible footage - and amazing that there wasn't that many incidents along the way until the crooks were caught.

Because there were a few moments when I thought it was gonna end badly, especially that part on foot where the cop and the crook run thru traffic - that was so close to ending in tears!

support the police 100% on apprehending these guys. If you're not gonna give chase, then there's no threat to the crooks when they break the law.

That reminds me of back i'n the 80s an angry truckie left melb on the way to Adelaide and would nt stop for anyone plowed down anything they put i'n his way including cop cars
Anyone that defends this type of behavior is a clown
Put your friends or family i'n the position of the people on the road and the ones who had there cars hijacked and see how quickly your mind would change on the police pursuit

brrrring... "Hello what is your emergency?"

"Ummm yes there is what i think is a stolen car doing burnouts up and down our street"

"Ok sir we will send a car to have a look, but if i was you i wouldnt hold me breath"

"What do you mean?"

"If the car refuses to stop there isnt anything we can do, we arent allowed to chase them"

""Pardon??? they have been at it for 10mins already and have driven dangerously up and down the street!?"

"Im sorry sir but under the news rules thats all we can do is observe and ask them to stop, if they drive off when we get there we cant do anything"

"But this is rediculas! If you guys cant do anything then i will go do something about it myself"

"I wouldnt recommend that sir, that would be illegal"

"So if i stop criminal action, im made out ot be the bad guy????"

"Well yes sir, you cant take any action its up to the Police to handle it"

"But you just said you cant do anything about!!!"

"Im sorry sir that is the law"

"And what if they get away?? How on earth will you find them or know who they are??

"Well the chances are slim if they decide to torch the car, but we will do our best"

"So i have to sit here and do nothing!?"

"Yes sir, if you tried anything yourself you would be charged with infringing on their civil liberties..."

"WHAT??"

"well what if i ran away??"

"Well we know where you live sir..."
