The standard of English and punctuation on this forum can be mind boggling not to mention the countless examples of people letting others walk all over them. People cannot be expected to know what you do or don't tolerate/appreciate if you don't say anything at the time. Learn to speak your mind and that will save you taking built up anger out on innocents like wife, kids, work associates and friends after the fact. It is called being assertive and no, it is not aggression. Anybody who confuses the two needs to put the definitions into practice. It will change the quality of all relationships for the better as well as lowering stress, anxiety and depression. This is an area where men can do a lot to help themselves and each other, rather than keep playing the blame game. Anyone who wants to attack what I have just written is a classic case. Ever had the realisation what you dislike in others is something you also do yourself? Quick to judge-slow to understand.

Totally agree. Although confusion is rife, as many don't "get it" and are still far to aggressive, especially to strangers or people in service roles. A simple "sorry, that coffee is wrong, can you please fix it, I ordered a...." - rather than "you f**&^ clown, you &*%( up my order. What are you, a moron?" type response. An assertive response leaves both parties with a clear understanding that you're not happy with it, and what to do to fix it, with no anger/angst over the situation. Why make others lives a misery?

Spot on. I've witnessed the negatives of this in numerous old bosses who had family relationships dissolve because they couldn't leave work at work, and vice versa.

I come home from work happy every day - not because of the work or pay, but because of the positive interactions I have with people all day - colleagues, reps, customers, and management(mostly!). Arriving home happy has an uplifting effect on your family too. The only downside is the occasional accusation of not taking something seriously, because I don't let it get to me.

I actually see this often amongst those who crawl all over others to climb the corporate ladder. They criticise others mistakes, hoping to make themselves look better, but those on the outside looking in can clearly see they make the very same mistakes themselves. Quite entertaining actually!

I've also had (poor) managers in past roles (decades ago now) who were exactly the same - denigrating subordinates over things they did themselves. Those are bosses who you'll never change, and you simply have to move on.

The whole world would be a better place if people had a bit more tact, and some empathy for strangers who they are all too quick to abuse.
