I have no problem with it, you have to remember, the Australian businesses employ Australians, who in turn spend their wages in other businesses which is helping this country in a greater way than an overseas company taking Australians money overseas and help the Australian enconomy how.. I don’t like paying extra for parts than I should, but the simple fact is, if general businesses in Australia aren’t on a more fair playing field and can’t survive, what do thousands and thousands of employees do for work.
Manufacturing almost gone, and we all can’t be some nerd who designs apps ect. Anyway that’s how I see it...

wodahs mentioned it's not applicable to digital purchases but I read the opposite a few days ago.
I wonder if Google will open a geo fenced aussie play store?
If Google pull the pin how will we buy the full version of forscan?

It's a can of worms, what about GST credits, an aussie business can apply there own GST component for GST credits to a purchase that didn't have a GST component, if the playing field was level then overseas companies should be able to do the same.

Remember what they said, "NO COST TO BUSINESS".

Look at the success of Trump and the #MAGA movement. The MSM who are owned by the global elitists and the imbecile left continue to rally against Trump. In the mean time the US is going from strength to strength, record low unemployment, manufacturing returning to the US. Something Obama said wasn't possible, and out current and former government sold us as well.

As long as the sheeple keep thinking Liberol (Liberal/Labor) is going to make a difference the country will continue to be sold off to the lowest bidder at the expense of Australians.

A lot of people buy online because they can’t afford the prices here because of stagnant wage growth.

Coles recently started paying their future workers less than what someone working there would have earned last year, same job. That’s not very fair.

Online retail isn’t the problem, it’s the cost of living that’s the problem. If an essential part of living goes up in cost (housing?) then people will want to be paid more so that they can live. If their wages don’t go up they’ll look to start saving money where they can in whatever way possible.

In Europe where countries have import tax you can choose shipping companies that avoid that tax for you. Will the same thing happen here? I’ll just ask my seller, they’ll probably start offering a no import tax option for Australia now...

Our three tiered Government is so big & bloated and having decided they're worth private sector salaries, have no alternative but to increase current taxes or invent new ones. We are a small population and yet we we have the dearest real estate in the world, some of the worst wages and employment conditions & our public sector is so corrupt & mismanaged, they spend the bulk of their time fighting to block each others plans after they've already spent millions on them.....Why do we trust a Government who sold off the peoples electricity, gas, transport, communications, roads, businesses and our land? Until we demand transparency, we will never have any idea just how much the public sector is taking the p-ss.

When you see our local shops are adding 500% to most (cheaper) goods I wonder why we would go to the internet and by them for a fifth of the price?

Yes it seems Bunning and places like that (supermarkets, ..) are marking up by around 500%. Dont believe it? I have been to a direct chinese importer and saw the prices shops pay for their stock. Seriously couldnt believe it. Even brand name stuff like deoderants that we pay $5 for, the shops are paying like 85 cents landed!

Anyway, I think 10% tax on imports from overseas is ok. Still way cheap.

Liberal and labour are both useless with spineless leaders. Who would be the equivalent of Trump down under? Clive Palmer or Gina Reinhardt?

Latham has reformed and denounced his previous Labor views and become a born again Make Australia Great Again advocate.

Andrew Hastie is another chap that comes to mind.

Ok i was just told this today,

If the o/s bussiness sales to australia is over $75k per year they have to add 10% gst and give it to aust gov.
If the sale is under $1000 and a private sale no gst is required and you dont have to pay it on entery to aust if under $1000

If the bussiness sales to australia is under $75k per year no gst is payable.

Have jyyst been told this and its come vua the gov in canberra.

Lets hope that is the case

Has anyone been picked up on this so far? No worries here, so far, with international purchases from all over the globe.
I bought in some gaskets from the UK this week and interesting to see they'd been declared as a 'commercial sample'

Model kits & parts being charged 10% on coming out of Japan, it's built into the seller's website. So it is working, looks like the bigger sellers are left to enforce it & I guess they remit to AusGov.

I can picture Mark Latham going nationalist, too.

I just purchased two used items for 1970 Boss 302 from two different private sellers thru eBay USA, eBay added 10% GST to the total cost including 10% on the postage.
One seller refunded some postage costs, but the GST paid was on the original cost quote, not the final cost.

At the same time I purchased an assortment of parts for Boss 302 including sump through Craigslist USA, again private seller, cheaper postage, no eBay fees, and no GST.

So, how does that work??

Hi,
You are lucky if you actually receive the items from Craigslist.

Anyway, I have bought some items of eBay since July, and 10% GST is added when you check out / finalize the purchase of the item. Doesn't matter if you log in to ebay UK, US, or AU, when the buyer is in AU it adds 10% GST.

Cheers,

I wonder what happens if you buy with a VPN and are ‘located’ overseas but request it be shipped to an Australian address?

I have recently purchased some motorcycle parts from Ebay US and had them sent to a family friend over there. Was about $350USD including shipping to Aus.

They arrived earlier this week and I can confirm in my case I paid no GST on the purchases and it was delivered as normal.

After today's episode of who wants to be the next Prime Minister. I think we should get Donald Trump down here and make him the next PM. Trump would get Australia back on its feet and clean out the government B. S.

Trump might even take the job, given the Australian PM gets paid more than US President.

Bizarre when you consider the population difference, Economic differences and size of military machine one is commander and chief of.....

Who cares, its just Australian taxpayers money Right?

His salary (donated) is still $120K year less than p1ssant politicians from Australia.

Its a bit like the pay difference between the recently departed Aus post Head Honcho and the USPS post master pay...
