Typical young buck's comment!

I know the wagon could use a set, but the Mrs would darn near kill me. It's taken me well over a year to get the go ahead on this set! LOL!

I will keep the 16's on the wagon though, as now I have another complete set of good rubber for them. Won't need to buy tyres in years! LOL!

I just need to decide which 16's to keep on the wagon. The S1 Clover Leaf or the S2 SR set?

Decisions decisions! LOL!

Well if you can get past the finance minister let me know, I may have a set of AU1 17's with near new tyres coming up for sale in a few months. IMHO, keep the SR 16's, never been a fan of the clover leaf rims.

GK - new (to you) rims look great. What was the final price, and how are the tyres (if you don't mind us asking)?

I'd keep the SR rims as well and use the clover leafs for a trailer.

GK, look great! I'm a big fan of the S2 Ticky rims.

SR rims all the way for the wagon mate.

2 tyres nearly stuffed, will need replacing pretty soon, 2 tyres brand new, Roadstone brand. Price was $500. One wheel has a few obvious scuffs on it, but that's ok. I'm more than happy with the condition of the wheels for the price I paid.

I'll go some Toyo Teo Plus' or Nankangs on the front and move the Roadies to the rear.

Initial impressions are really good, car feels nice and tight, tyres are quieter than the Maxxis MAV1's I had on there. The rears being all but stuffed did move around a bit on take off, especially with the rain we've been having down here! :Up_to_som :

Looks good GK the S2 XR rims.

The SR rims would look better on the wagon.

Well I put the SR rims on the wagon this arvo. They look odd to me, but I suspect they'll grow on me somewhat.

I'll take a few piccies and post them when my broadband comes off being speed limited in the next day or so.

I do know however that the SR rims are newer and are in better nick. We'll see though.

Cheers,

GK

Thumbs up

After a few days driving on the 17's I am stoked!

The car is tauter on the road, with the steering more precise. It seems to ride the bumps better than the 16's did. I'm supposing this is a better match up as the S2 XR springs that are in there were originally tuned to run with the wheels now on the car.

Been happy with the Roadstones N7000 although they are actually Nexens. I've been quoted $158 for each Roadstone N3000 that I'm considering for the rears. Different pattern though, so I'm wondering if I should go the Nexens with the matching pattern, even though some are branded Nexen, some Roadstone.

I guess I could always ring the guy I got the rims off and see where he got them from and get another 2.

Or I could try a different brand. I was considering Toyo Teo Plus or Nankangs, but I'd prefer the tread pattern to be uniform.

What are your thoughts on this?

Cheers,

GK

Go the Nankangs NS2s. I have had them on the wagon for 15 months now, and am getting good wear out of them, plus they are good in the dry and the wet.

Though I also had the Nexen N3000s and they weren't too bad either. I prefer the Nankangs though. (mine were all in 18s, so hopefully the 17s are similar)

I've also got the NS2's, seem great for my car in all aspects except they are bad for road noises

I just bought Nexen N3000's. after a few people and tyre places recomendations, $129 fitted, I could have got the N7000's for $128 or Maxxis V1's for $130. I wanted to get the Z1's but didnt have the money really.

But the N3000's are meant to be pretty quiet for a performance tire (and I agree they are a hell of a lot quieter than the Kumho 711's I had. Grip is better too and they are supposed to last well. Very happy so far

I personally would buy them over the nankangs.

I haven't noticed any noise from the wagon since I fixed the wheel bearings, so I'd have to say road noise is OK.

To pick between the Nexens and Nankangs, just flip a coin.

I have had the Nankang NS-IIs ... were quiet at first ... but wear is uneven ... and getting them to balance is a pain as well. I won't be getting them again.

So far I have managed to get 45,000km out of them ... but the wear is all over the place and not really happy with them at all.

My next tyres will cost a little more though .. but am looking for a better tyre though to cope with the work I give them ... i am either going to get Hankook K104 or Maxxis MA-Z1's

Here's the wagon with the SR rims. Pics are really bad and photobucket wouldn't let me resize them. It's playing up bad tonight.

Much better.

What about just putting the SR rims on the wagon? Be a little easier wouldn't it?

Ahhhh ... I thought the SR rims were different.
I think i like the Cloverleafs over the SRs now.
Although I think the 5-spoke buzzsaw rims would look even better on the wagon ... hee hee

I can't really do that unless I change the rear lenses as well. If I do one, I'll do the other also. LOL! I'm not in a rush though.

I'm getting those Maxxis fitted in about 3 weeks.

In a couple of weeks I'll have a search around for pricing. We'll be going for a run down to Tassie a couple of weeks after that so I'll report back on findings.

Hopefully they're not k-r-a-p...
