I would be up for a small trip like this, if I hadn't just been over to adelaide a week ago.

It's not a bad drive, the roads closer to the border in some spots are bumpy and arent nice on passengers lowered cars (mine was scraping reasonably often at 110). I usually take the long way through Naracoorte, instead of following the highway out of Horsham (friends to visit, plus the Horsham to Naracoorte road is my favourite stretch of blacktop), and it's not too long on the road if you have at least one (conscious)passenger.

Agreed. That trip was a difficult one, but we got it sorted.

At least they're not coming over this way to pick up a car!

7.5hrs in a truck from ballarat and the truck is speed limited to 100km/h max, its not that much for one driver to do in one day, Just need to break often and thats stopping for lunch, and it takes an hr to get to laverton from ballarat in a truck

Try running all over the state and country in a truck that was limited to 100, but due to thegearing and other factor, would wind right out to 84kmh.... unless you went down hill of course.
The was my old Mack Wrecker in the army. I was also required to wear hearing protection whilst driving as the niose levels in the cabin were so high it could have possible caused hearing problems. Combined with the old disregard of the rule of a max of 11 hours continuous driving and loading.

Lucky my new girl has sound deadening, more hp, more torque, more gears and happily sit's on the tonne towing up to 40 odd tonne. (towing 71 required lower speeds.. lol)

You kids get it to easy these days, it took me 7.5 days just after the great depression to go from Melbourne to Adelaide, but my ride was only 3/4 horsepower back then.

( i had a horse with 3 legs, all i could afford )

My preference is to make the most of the long weekend but if theres overwelming desire to go to the v8's then that would work for me anyway

Naw, long weekend, prefer AFD. Besides, I can't make it for Clipsal. What is this, some ploy to get us all there because you lost the GP? It was 12 years ago, get over it guys :P
