Up here is Sydney theres three i know of. One in penrith, on in liverpool ( 2mins from my house) and one at the domestic airport. Give it a few months and those insane cues will eventually die down. When liverpool opened up, it was chocka-block 24/7 but the crowds died down in about 2 months.

Standing out front of the domestic airport, every second car to pull up at departures had boxes of KK donuts. Twas a funny sight.

Yeh when penrith opened up the queue zigzagged through the carpark with barriers setup etc.. easy 40-50 cars in queue at some points.

Now you can drive straight through, or walk in and not have to wait except maybe 1-2 people in front of you.

You realise after going there a few times that the donuts are actually CRAP.. and it's just the hype that makes you want them. Rediculously sweet to the point where they make ribena taste like water.. and no substance to them.. and the taste isn't that good either. Only good ones are the apple or custard filled ones but even they aren't as good as the same things from other shops.

Donut King poos all over KK..

Just came back, waited for 1 and half hours to get in and it rained twice!

Its very nice of the staff to serve you complimentary donuts while you wait and i was pretty intrigued at the production process.

My verdict is that when you get them fresh hot they are beautiful and almost worth it, but when they cool down after like an hour they are just extra sweet 7-11 donuts. The mixed ones were nothing special either. Untill they were warm anyway.

60% hype and 40% taste.

They don't look that nice to be honest. I wouldn't wait for 3 hours for a faken doughnut thats for sure.

A friend in Sydney bought a box when the airport shop opened and after a week, they still tasted and looked the same as the day they bought them. Too many preservatives for my liking.

Tonights story was better, the rest of you guys should have stuck around even though it fizzled was still a bit of fun. Bring on the vehicle inspection notice.

hmm - wonder how long that's going to last for...

we went there yesterday, quite a drive from where we live, when we were told it was a "3 hour wait, 3 box maximum" i thought they were kidding.... we went home.

Lol, I prefer DK doughnuts, the KK one's didn't taste the best, but maybe the next one's will be better.

Is fairly over-hyped though.

They opened in a fantastic place, Fountain Gate, usually full of VK's & XD's etc Narre Warren the home of the moccie and flanno ;) lol.

Waiting in a queue for 3 hours is a bit ridiculous, imagine if they had a delivery service? I'd be a happy driver working there.

Just watch Diabetes and Obesity reach *record* new levels in the Eastern suburbs, hahaha.

I heard / saw police & tmu cars are looking closely at people's cars there too. It's like a chapel street squeezed into 50 square metres.

It's not about donuts. It's about doing something stupid at 3 oclock in the morning!!!

The glazed ones are pretty special tho... going to sydney for a couple of days in July so will be bringing a small boatload home on the plane (Qantas will let you take about 5 dozen as carry on hehe)

I don't know about Krispy Kreme, but in Brisbane (Charlotte St) we have Dreamy Donuts. Looks like it could be Aussie owned. The best donuts I've ever tasted by far. Light and fluffy on the inside, crispy and very sweet on the outside. I was thinking of making a detour there on the way to our last cruise. Mmmm, Caramello and Strawberry Bubblegum aaaaalggggghh...
