Ewww yuck it's a Taurus! Worst car ever made in history!

How do I know this? It weighs more than a Falcon and is smaller inside. That's all I know about them, so it must be a diabolical automobile.

The AWD SHO is an awesome car.
Sync is hardly used - Old man has a BMW, doesn't use any of the same feature set.

Torque Vectoring is simply a braking LSD - All modern Mercs and BMW's have this, and a number of other cars like the upcoming Clio RS.

Push start, oh wow.

Multi-contour seating - sit in a 320i. Those are properly good seats.

The E63 AMG weighs 20kg less than the Taurus, is larger, has way more power, a V8 BiTurbo.

Even with AWD, it weighs 200kg more than the F6 - with a smaller engine!

How is this a step forwards, you tell me?

It's too heavy, it's too small, it's too big, it's too ugly.....
Don't buy one then.

The good news; there will still be plenty of clapped out 10 year old falcons to buy in 2026 so why are you all worried....

Falcons were getting heavier by the generation too. If Ford were building a new generation Falcon instead of discontinuing them, they would've been catching onto the Taurus' weight.

Did you miss the point where the Taurus is front wheel drive, dimensionally smaller with a less powerful powertrain and is still heavier than the FG2?

If they do press ahead with it, it won't be on the D3 platform, and next gen would be considerably lighter.

Yes, the current Taurus is a flawed design. However, its still an impressively specced car and in SHO form accelerates pretty quickly and has good (not great) handling (or so I've read) The next D3 Taurus will address the weight and packaging issues that beset the current model.

Personally I think Taurus' greatest enemy is its cousin, the Fusion.

I really wish Ford could unleash the full potential of the 3.5 EcoBoost in the D3 vehicles (570Nm of torque @ 2000 rpm). Upgrade to the powertrain maybe? Make the AWD biased toward the rear?

You're comparing the Taurus to an AMG Merc and a BMW? Not sure if serious... Most features a vehicle manufacturer brings out have already been available in another vehicle.. Not rocket science to figure that one out.

You'll never please everyone. Perfect example - Falcons aren't selling.
Don't forget we probably won't get anything like this until 2015/16. Which by then, there'll be the usual updates. Weight cuts, more power, more tech.

I think they look quite good. Those wanting performance will just have to hope for the Mustang GT. There's no saying the SHO can't be tuned anyway.. Even from factory.

Forget it fellas, Graziano basically wrote off any form of Falcon replacement today. Large cars only make up 3.7% of total vehicle sales and he even considers that will keep dropping. Its barely even worth playing in now.

Fords stance will be that if anyone wants a large-ish size car a Mondeo will have to do. He even said Holden will be basing their 2017 car on the Malibu. I don't know if he knows that as a fact or if thats his educated opinion though. But Taurus won't be made RHD anyway, thats already been confirmed out of the US.

Mondeo is a good car anyway, now we can have the full power 2L ecoboost, instead of the watered down one they have in it now because there will be no Falcon for it to compete with.

I'd be pretty bloody happy to own one. AWD? Yes friggin please!

FWD can stay over in the states though.

Yes I am gutted that the locally made Falcon will be no more.... but the possibility that the Taurus will fill the hole has made me feel a whole lot better about the future of Ford Australia.

No it's not perfect but what Falcon ever was?

For those of you whinging about power, weight, speed, etc.... based on the link below, I reckon a tuned SHO with zorst and air intake is pretty quick enough for me on the open streets..... 4.3 seconds 0-100 and a 12.8 quarter???? Holy crap!

I just hope the fuel consumption is reasonable. However do I really care about 1 or 2 or even 3 litres per 100k's.... definitely not.

http://www.worldcarfans.com/11304255...ord-taurus-sho

I wish Ford Australia the best of luck and hope that they have the vision to deliver the Australian public another era of great vehicles. I tell you what.... im actually looking forward to see what they deliver beyond 2016. Talk about exciting!!!!

It's not just the city, we got a new coles out our way. Dave parked, was convinced he had to have parked dodgily. Nope. half the bonnet of the xr8 ute hanging out the park. Then took a 3 point turn to get round the corner (reversed into the corner park of where we wanted to exit, never a smart move).
But yeah, the world is getting cramped. I don't like it. What happens when I get the '63 compact I'll never be able to park, anywhere, ever.
