styling is terrible.... negates every bit of decent engineering that went into it, which by the sounds isn't that impressive anyhow.

The subtle yet much more effective styling work on the Coupe60 concept cr@ps on this.

W must stand for ****. They claim the GTS does 4.9 to 100, so its only 0.2 seconds faster than a GTS and it looks like a piece of crap. Those wheels are hiddeous. Just buy a GTS and get an LS2 Edit and it would be quicker without looking like a . I'm shocked that thats how they made it look, I was expecting 3 tonnes of plastic on it, but it looks more like a crappy Omega.

I reckon the FG F6 could match those times to 100.

One of the ugliest looking cars to come out of Holden/HSV in a long time, people whinga about FPV keeping the same wheels but i would rather we had the same wheels on FPV's for the next 5 models rather than the ones on that.
Considering i like the looks of VE's i think it's horrible.
Maybe it will go like stink, but i would rather by a ssv or calias v an spend the left over change on mods.
Good idea by HSV, it somehow got in translation.

Lets see how many sell before worrying about what FPV will/should/could do in reply.
I don't see it as an issue. Small volume sales like the old CSV cars.

Also, as mentioned, if FPV do compete, we will all loose in the end.

agreed. The wheels are absolutely HORRID!

I would also prefer the old wheels on a new car if that's what they offered.

totally agree with you on this one mate... imho a large factor of a performance car company is perception, from their customers but also from the general public. regardless of how this gts-r looks or its pricing, developing a 'new' model with any mechanical changes requires time and $$$. Even if the model doesn't sell well, there is a certain sense of confidence in the company knowing they have the ability to develop new models with a decent budget. Will definitely be interesting to see this in the metal

So this nice car is about the same price an a GTR Nissan. Hmmmm. You would HAVE to be a TRUE BELIEVER and not a DRIVER to buy one. (meaning being seen by others is more important to you than actually driving the car)

But whatever. When HSVs were 300kw and Falcons were 200kw, Falcons still sold.

People who ACTUALLY want pure performance and do not care about other things buy Lotus Exige S or Porsche GT3 or Elfin or GTR Nissan (soon) or whatever.

i'm normally a fan of HSV styling... but that... just aint cool.. the front end looks like they spent too much time trying to simplify it.. and ended up with a big mess of ugly... and the wheels.. i can't even comment... at the end of the day.. it's just a big donk with big brakes?

I'm confident ford can bring the fight to them using handling packages.. which seems to be what ford have focused on.. coz we don't have the engines to get anywhere near that close to the HSV power levels....

Yeah the W stands for Walkinshaw. Its a tribute to the Original HSV (Walkinshaw) that was released 20 yrs ago.

Even has the same colour paint if u look closely.

Its not a gts-r though. And I totally agree with how ugly they've made the front bar, terrible, but from seeing the under the bonnet pics, I think they are trying to feed the over the radiator intake as much air as possible. Not a fan of the rims either.

Lucky for me Holden also released a prototype coupe based on the VE called the Coupe 60. HOLY CRAP!

That car looks terrible. All the engineering goes to waste if a car is fundamentally ugly. Could buy a faster, better handling, better sounding, better quality, better looking C63 for the roughly the price of that too.

BFD. What an ugly car it is. Feat of engineering? Hardly. If someone stuck 2 turbos on a GT and reversed a forklift into the front would that receive the same appraisal? What a waste of money.

Sticking a big engine in something is nothing new, and certainly not revolutionary. That thing is 1 litre behind the Veyron which puts out 750kw or thereabouts. The veyron is revolutionary, the W427 is cryptic for ****ing 4 2 with 7 litres.
If it was all about big engines I could suggest an enthusiast goes to an aviation wrecker and pick up an out of hours PT6 for cheap, then stick it in your car with a variable transmission. Thing would fit easily in a ford, your choice of models between 600-1500hp. Needs twin 7" exhausts though, and burns approximately 700 litres of jet fuel per hour at full power setting. But it would blow any crappodore away

That is a hefty price to pay for a local car. Put that in a Monaro 2 door coupe and I'd consider it (if i had the $$$) Full credit to Holden for going bold. Go hard or go home.........

Come on guys, whats with all the negative comments about it, i find it ironic that passing judgement on the new FG without actually driving it is forbidden around here, but it's ok to pick faults with this without driving it.

And whats wrong with putting the 7.0l in there, wouldn't be the first time a car manufacturer jumped up engine sizes in a few short years to keep ahead of the opposition.....289W,302W,351W,351C in 5yrs from Ford in the XR-XY days.
No arguments from cramming a hi-po motor in production cars in those days

The Veyron also has 8 more cylinders, and 4 turbos,

This is a 7.0L N/A V8 making what? Half the power of the Veyron, using 8 cylinders less. Not bad.

I agree styling is fairly ordinary. Can't wait to see its performance.

Well there will be cashed up bogans who will buy it......I'm wondering how much. If it price it too high they're gonna go into a territory they cant compete with.

Will be interesting to wait and see, if the markets there then FPV can respond if they can see the point other then saying my d... is bigger then yours.

I see nothing wrong with it. How is it any different to Dodge upping the displacement on their V10s, that only turn out 600Hp?
