As everyone has said previously...it is DEFINATELY the caryards responsibility to do ALL the paper, I dont think they can even negiotate in the deal for you to do it.

private is different, completely up to the NEW owner.

jas, u should be able to go down there with the papers saying u own the car and just transfer it, unless ive missed somthing and u dont have those papers. u will need a current RW to change names too.

lol am I that bad?

My car was the same. I got pulled over two weeks after I got it (errrr, I think they did a rego check on it....), was still in the car yard's name. I checked with Vicroads 28 days after the RWC was issued, it was in my name.

I'd just go let Vicroads know about it. If they are planning on doing it in the next few weeks they are obviously planning on just writting out a new RWC which is a big no no. Chances are if they're pulling a dodgy they've been doing it for a while and getting away with it.

Sounds like you need a roadworthy to transfer the car and you also need a signature of the person selling it there a particular paper you can get from vic roads you just fill in the details and you sign it and so does the car yard make sure you make the amount you paid for the car lower than what you paid so that the transfer fee isnt heaps.

snyper
i dont know how they did it i have had the car in my posession for about 9 week or so and the rego was transferred this morning the only way i can think is that they did another roady on it when it was being repaired under warranty 3 weeks ago

the yard paid the tranfer fees as part of the sale
