Hi all, looking to get myself into one of these in the new year but after speaking to a few dealers in Brisbane they cant guarantee availability outside the original 400 allocated to Australia. Does anyone know anything more? I hoping theres not a long wait! The dealer mentioned with the old XR5's at one stage there was a 5 month wait

Welcome Aratic, back when I was first looking into these beasts I was told that the first shipment was to arrive in September, at that time I assumed they would arrive pretty much at once....big ship, lack of car on boat transport knowledge, not sure what I was expecting!. It turns out they have dribbled in, mine arriving 8 weks after first indication and taken ownership last Friday thankfully. After this first shipment I was advised the next would be March 2013, thinking they will dribble in again from that point. I have not heard that 400 is the AU limit, just the first shipment. Hopefully someone with more knowledge will chime in and clarify. If you get hold of one you will not be dissappointed.

Yeah 400 was the first shipment, not the total available in OZ. Next lot is early next year

Whats happening with the controls wildb? Only two days in myself but can't say the current is all that bad, can't imagine what they would change. Must admit at nearly 500k's in two days and almost ready for a full depression of the loud pedal the steering wheel controls tend to take a back seat at this stage

Thanks for that. March would pretty much suit me perfectly actually, might go down and put a deposit on one after Xmas I can't wait to test drive one but holding myself back at the moment!

I'm assuming that the stock arriving next year will be 2013 builds as well? I know my dealer is expecting two black ones in Jan which I'm again assuming will be 2012 builds which I probably wouldn't be too keen on.

Ah ha! Page 110 of the manual says "Avoid driving too fast during the first 1,500 kilometres. Vary your speed frequently and change up through the gears early. Do not labour the engine."

So there's still a running-in period. Would have been nice if that was at least indexed.

I don't know if actually getting stock is a huge issue right now, we ordered ours on the 2nd, picked it up on the 8th. And when the dealer brought up the list of stock to choose from pretty much all colours were available.

Seemed to be about 15 cars on his list, 5-6 of them marked "sold" or "on hold". Not sure if that was including stock still to arrive in the country or not, but for the colours we were interested in they were available in Sydney.

Of course, not sure how much that has changed in a week and a half, there were 2 others in the showroom waiting to be picked up when we picked ours up.

And then 2.9% finance was helping I think, any cars arriving next year (march at the earliest supposedly) won't be eligible for that as they have to be picked up in january we were told.

So far it's great, upgraded from a CJ Lancer VRX (first of the new design with the 2 litre) so a pretty big change.

We were considering the 86/BRZ as a sporty non-turbo, but the 5 door practicality (future family compatibility) won out in the end (no 18 month wait helps too). We actually didn't intend to get the ST, but the titanium is auto only, and by the time you add all the options to the sport it's an easy argument to win

Nope, it's a ford thing (maybe just Sydney?). All ford dealers in Sydney are offering it anyway, and its from fordcredit/macquarie:

http://www.ford.com.au/latest-offers/sydney

Just says finance has to be approved by 31/1/13

Edit: yeah, Not offered when I put in a QLD or WA postcode. That sucks for you guys. At 2.9% it's not even worth paying cash.

If anyone gets an ST at 2.9% let me know, dealer here reckons that deal excludes ST and Titanium models

Ours in sydney, it's "myford credit" or something backed by Macquarie. I.e. one and the same company.

And that link I put up earlier says all focus and fiesta models, and talking to our dealer we only talked about titanium and st, and the 2.9% was ok for both.

So if your Queensland dealer is offering the same 2.9 deal, and not some other version then it should be fine.

Like other replies, in this case the dealer credit was sourced through Macquarie. The quoted rate was 2.02%, the "comparison rate" was 2.9%.
