Default black e-series seats?

hey just wondering if ANY e-series came out with black seats.
did any of the fairlanes/ltd's have black seats? i was hoping i could get black rear seats that will fit in my EB and then i only have to get the fronts re-trimmed to match!
i better add, if no e-series came out with black seats then would AU rear seats fit in with or without modification?
finally how much would i be looking at to get:

1. both front sports seats re-trimmed in black leather.
2. both front and rear seats re-trimmed in black leather.

cheers
braden

i don't know of any E series that had black seats, no.

The au seats would most likely need modification to fit. Anything is possible, just takes more effort sometimes.

I got a quote to retrim my BF & my EL in custom leather, was quoted $2500 for the BF, and $3500 for the EL !! No idea why the big descrepency, it was the same place too. So buying an AU Ghia black leather interior and modding to fit would be the cheaper option. Don't quote me though, never seen it done.

ps those prices included door trims too.

Easiest would be to get DC LTD leather seats and dye the leather black.
Or you could even dye your current seats. Pull the material off, (they come off just like seat covers) fill the laundry sink with black dye, and let them soak.
Black seats for next to nothing.

yeh id thought of dyeing them but didnt know how to. iv seen the 'O' rings that hold the material onto the actual seats, but iv got no idea how to take them off and then get them back on! any suggestions on this?

i think it'd be great to get some better back seats, maybe fairmont seats, then i could dye my front seats and the rear seats! sounds good to me!

yeh so i just need to know how to get the material off properly!

cheers

Goto bunnings you can get the rings to replace them and the tool should be in the fencing section (in the US they call them HOG rings)

To remove just use 2 pairs of pliers and pry, bend, remove. If you do intend to replace a small pair of good side cutters will cut them in half.

Year removing and replacing the rings can be a bit fiddly, but its fairly straight forward

This is what EA2BA is talking about, and is exactly what I used when I swapped the material on my XR rear seat to a high series seat (which has the mounts for the headrests)
