are you meant to polish wheels?

why car polish?

use the good stuff, Autosol is great for metals. Ive got no idea what normal polish would be like.

I used car polish on my fairlane's wheels... and it came up great! Thats proberly because they had the clearcoat over them.
The EB XR6's wheels were machined... but I dont know if they had clearcoat on them... I would say that they would.
Duco polish and autosol metal polish would both work well... just try it, its not going to do any harm.

yeah i wouldnt imagine polish could hurt the metals in anyway, i mean, u use it on ur car dont u?

metal polish is more abrasive. Better for alloy.

quick shine=car polish

a glow/repair if the clear has gone funny=autosol

Are your rims clear coated ? if so i would

1. spray with water when starting the wash
2. apply non acidic wheel cleaner ( leave to sit for a few minutes )
3. rinse with water and re apply step 2 ( spot spray where needed )
4. apply a mix of 1 part wash / 4 parts water in a spray bottle ( to dulute and nutrulise the wheel cleaner )
5. if needed wash with a clean sponge ( or MF wash cloth for wheels ) any stuborn areas using the water wash spray ( this includes using a very soft pointed brush to do in around wheel nuts and valve area's )
6. rinse with water and dry with MF cloth or soft terry towel gently
7. if you want you can now apply a paint cleaner to your rims to bring them back up ( the clear coat on your rims is basicly the same as your paint , and or clay may be used )
8. rinse and dry
9. you can add a polish as you would the car and is your choice ( but i don't bother )
10. after all of this i spray window clnr onto a cloth and wipe over the rim and dry with a clean cloth, this brings most rims up magic and removes any white hazy marks left over

above is for clear cote, if not then instead of step 7. paint clnr use your metal polish gently and shine and delete step 9. ( NOTE: Check wheel clnr safe for your rims if not sure just use the wash / water mix )

Notes: for a pro finish when washing the car in the first few steps do under you wheel arches as well with the wash / water mix and enure this area is totaly clean.

After step 6. apply your first coat of tyre shine, don't slap it on , take your time to keep in the lines as best you can

After step 10, re apply tyre shine if needed, allow to dry and wipe any excess of with an old rag.

Tyre shine can be applied to the wheel arches as well for a deep black shine, apply with an old cloth , allow to sit for a while and wipe of with an old cloth.

I use autosol and very fine steel wool on my polished alloys every now and again. There is also this coated cotton wool stuff that comes in a yellow can. Can't remember what its called, bright shine or something. It does a great job and is very gentle.

I use 'Purple Polish' on mirror polished alloy, brings it up really nice and doesn't scratch the alloy like Autosol does. If you read the Autosol tube it says not to use it on mirror polished alloy, as it's too abrasive.

Autosol is an abrasive polish (be that very minimal)
Brite Shine is non abrasive

I just bought some VERY VERY VERY dirty chrome wheels and use MR SHEEN as i was told by my metal polisher mate that it would work wonders.

I was amazed how good MR SHEEN worked. BLING BLING

Standard EB XR rims had clear coat. I know because mine look because theres scratches in it

I got some stuff u can have a try of next time I see ya. Its good stuff. comes in a little tin and has like wooly bits u rub into the wheels.

That's exactly like mine...
