I know it's a couple of months ago but for future readers...Just thought I would mention as we had a rat eat right through 2 wires in the Focus , had to disconect the battery to repair...needed the code for the stereo, bugga! Was braced to have to also pay to get it - SURPRISE! Reef City Ford in Gladstone came to the rescue and with the vin number and a few details, we had it and NO CHARGE : )
So nice that there is a dealer that understands that this is a simple search on the computer and takes about 13 seconds to do. Thanks Reef City Ford

If you still have your original books in the glovebox it should be writen on the last page on the sicker from the original dealer. Both mine and the wifes have all the books and the codes are in them

Just tried that, apparently they now need the serial no and part no from the unit and it takes an hour or so unless you know the original dealer that sold the car. PITA. Just stuck the original back in to sell the car. Might get a cheapy mp3 and a filler for the hole.

A short story.

One day my battery dies.

Replace dead battery with new one.

CODe

says the radio, ok wheres that owners manual that was in the glove box?

Lost
ok car due for service soon, Ill get them to sort it out.
Off for service, pick up car mech says that the stereo is not the original one and they dont have the tool to pull it out so I need to take to a dealer to pull it out to get serial number for code

I was too busy for a long time to get to the dealer so have put up with no tunes. This week I searched the net for an answer and came across this..

Cheers GK for the help.

hmmm, lets have a look, pulled out the ashtray got my mirror to look for serial number and what do I see?
The code written on the bottom of the unit
took me two months to pull my finger out and five minutes to fix

you need the tools or some stiff wire.do a search at the top of the AU home page and a dozen threads will open up with how to do it . Was it a Ford dealer you went to for service ?

I found my code written on the that sticker as well. After I had it removed and sold it to someone else looking work a working CD player.

I replaced the factory unit for something MUCH better.

That's handy to know . I disconnected my battery the other day while putting in a DBS and dammit, I cant find where I wrote the code down.
I'll have a look there tomorrow.

Hi all, sorry to revive such an old post but I’m having trouble getting my code from ford, did the usual crap with the vin number at the dealership and the keep coming back to me with the code 2146, I’ve entered this code twice and it is incorrect. Contacted ford with the serial number of my head unit as I believe it has been replaced with another standard ghia head unit. Does anyone know if it is possible to just go into the dealership with the serial number and have them retrieve it that way? Also I’ve tried contacting Fadi but had no reply, anyone know if he’s still doing the radio codes or if he has a new email? Cheers in advance.
Car is 99 au s1 Fairmont ghia if that helps for any reason.
