Hey everyone. New to the forums. On my P's still, been driving a BA XR6, a telstra company car actually, for the past year, but now the lease is running up. Annnyway, I need a car of my own. Long story short, ive wanted an XF since i was very little. So thats what im looking for, only thing is I dont know anything about them? Carby or EFI? 4.1L? 3.3L? What year model to dodge?
Anyway, Cheers guys. |

Yeah you can have alot of fun in a 4.1 with headwork and a cam with a big carby. Boy do I miss carbies! I'd stay away from the 3.3 personally. Welcome to the forum.

Yes my other car if a xf ute, ran like a dream it was the 4.1, but it is a very big step back from what your driving now. you sure you want to go back that far. im on my p's aswell and i changed to a ed v8 and i wouldnt go back, maybe if the motor was worked and the car was awesome, but yhe good luck with what you get.

After driving an XR6 for 12 months you will freak out if you get a car with a carby. My advice is buy the best you can afford fuel injected.

Only problem with EFI XF's is that when they start leaking oil, for some reason they run like shiat.
Make sure you find a clean one, NO OIL LEAKS!~ Welcome to the Forum, please make sure your Tray Table is in the upright position and your sealbelt fastened. We are preparing for liftoff !! Cheers,

just about anything you buy for $1500 is not going to be decent. it will be rough in most areas. there are exceptions, but you will need to keep your eyes open. i would suggest saving up a bit more and getting something better. the difference between a $1500 xf and a $2500 xf will be huge.

Hey Pict, do you work for Telstra or is the old mans lease car?
I used to work for the big T and I was about to salary sacrifice a BA XR6 Turbo 6 Speed in phantom with sunroom and leather......only 20 bucks more then what I’m paying on my current EL! But I left and now work for Austar! (Fast ford and free Austar, what more could you want!)

Yeah was my mums salary sacrifice.
An 86 XF Ute with 200000k's, new tyres, and a month of rego left. No rust. That could be had for about $1500.. Bargain? or not? |

we used to have an unleaded efi s pack and from what i remember they are alot more trouble then the carby version, ive read they are abit slower too. i picked mine up for $600 no rego with something like 188000kms on it so cheap ones that are in good nick are out there
