Ring up five different tyre places and they'll recommend you five different tyres. Whatever greater stock they have in, they'll recommend. Most are reluctant to order tyres in too, if they think they can flog the junk they have.

I have Bridgestone Potenza S03's on the GT, stick like absolute ИИИИ to a blanket, I have never had a tyre that was hard to break traction in the wet but these certainly are, and they are unbelieveable in the dry. I guess thats what you get for $400 a tyre.

I agree that the Yokahamas are an awesome tyre. Before the Yokahamas, I had Bridgestones and they were a disgrace. Anything close to a wet road would result in me having to be feather light on the throttle. I looped it at a roundabout on my way to uni back in 03'. I wasn't pushing it hard. Just the bridgestones had no grip.

I had Falkens (not sure what, but they were 245/40/17) on the rear of my ED, and in the dry they were a brilliant tyre, better than my Goodyear Eagle F1's (rrp $260ea?) which are on the rear now. I never put the Falkens on the front though.
I didnt mind SP3000's for a front tyre, but the Eagle F1's were absolutely unreal on the front, especially in the wet I have Toyo Tranpath's on the front now ($170ea) and they do the job, but arent spectacular in the wet for braking hard.

Falken ZE-326's are pretty shocking. mate did the same thing. stay away from em

I have 235/45/17 Falken ZE326 & they seen half decent. Paid $179ea
Only time I've span the tyres was with more throttle than required + new rain + trans in power mode. Quick let off the throttle & they gripped again.
Likely get dunlop sp3000? next but I've only done about 7,000ks in the last year since having the Falkens so tyre change wont happen for a while.

Tyres have plen-tay of tread on the rear, and the shocks are fine.

Honest it was no fanging, it was the weight of the car and ИИИИ tyres. Ive had some sliding before, this has just been the worst of it.

I agree with ya there, the rain bringing up the muck in the road.

I've been meaning to do a Defensive Driving course...but garanteed I'd fail with these shocker tyres.

Sounds a lot like what the old skyline did when i was drivin it near knox, although that ended up being the suspension : Get the Kumho 711's, fantastic grip.

a non LSD car is easier to spin the wheels on :P

the khumos 711's are good for a budget tyre but now with the manual mine have worn down fairly quickly so i dont know if they are a long lasting tyre....
