Default 07-2008 Focus TDCi With DPF? or No?

Hi I'm new here in the forums and I have a question, if whether the TDCi variant of the 2007-08 Focus has equipped with a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) or no?

Im planning to buy a 2nd hand one, I just wonder if any of you has a problem with your Focus in the long run. Thank you!

I have a 2010 LV which doesn't have a DPF so I doubt the earlier ones would either.

Thanks for the reply! So do you have any troubles since you bought it? I really hope so that the earlier versions have no dpf too, I heard DPF's gets clog if not used properly and warning light comes on

The only trouble I have had was it split the 3rd injector seal and blew the injector return line in 2012, other than that, no issues and now my car is fairly modified and has been tuned.

Based on all I have read in these forums, it appears that only the 2011 LW TDCi's and above have the DPF filters fitted.

off topic:

for those who will purchase a car with DPF, how do I know when it's cleaning itself?

1: the thermo fans continually run until completion.
2: 150 rpm higher idle.
3: exhaust "Ticking" like V8 headers after a burn out.
4: 20+kw and 50+nm of extra grunt..(yes you and your tires will feel it)
5: higher fuel consumption.

there is no need to run up the expressway, just drive normally.
better with friends going up a steep hill.
it's not the revs your after but the load, other wise time is needed.

10 minutes in time, 2 minutes under load. (pick one)

Not a problem on cars under high load and long trips, they become an issue for cars which just run to the shops or train station and back.

Short trips clog them up pretty quick, and there's only so many regenerations you can force before they're totalled.

I agree with most of those to an extent. But maybe different brands can do things slightly differently. No 4 definitely does not apply to my Mondeo, which is the same engine as the Focus. If anything it doesn't go as well. My experience with Ford diesels is -

1: the thermo fans continually run until completion. (Can't say I have noticed but I generally can't ever hear the thermos in the Mondeo anyway)
2: Idle hunts up and down and is rough like it has a miss. the first time I pulled up at the lights and it was doing this I thought there was something wrong.
3: exhaust "Ticking" like V8 headers after a burn out.
4: More gutless off the line but is ok once you get going.
5: higher fuel consumption. Instantaneous consumption at idle sits on about 2.6 L p/h rather than the usual 1.0. A good visual indicator to confirm that's whats happening.

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a light in the dash to indicate it was doing it?

my brother hired a newish 3 tonner diesel van for moving house purposes, just before he got home after using said vehicle, a light lit on the dash telling him to drive for 5 kilometres i think was the distance to do the particulate filter clean.

It would appear some vehicles alert the driver to this action happening while others dont.
