Got a serious bee in your bonnet.
Also do some research and come back.

Yeah different turbo for a start I believe.

Seems like Ford are doing the right thing and not just changing the ECU map, its a proper upgrade.

Much like the differences between a FG XR6T and FG F6..same base, different bits.

taking the **** right or are you really a troll?

LV
- 5 cylinder Volvo turbo
- Based on generation 2 Focus
- FWD with revoknuckle

LW
- 4 cylinder ecoboost
- Based on generation 3 Focus
- AWD

Besides that, LW is a different size car from the each model.
LV is outside length: 4337 mm / 170.7 in, wheelbase: 2640 mm / 103.9 in.
LW is outside length: 4534 mm / 178.5 in, wheelbase: 2648 mm / 104.3 in
Then the interior and technology are different (LW runs EPAS).

So....tell me...where is it the same?

Will be interesting to see how one of these performs with a tune, ecoboost mustangs with tune only are running around mid 12's

It was like this for MK2 RS vs ST with the Volvo 5 cylinder aswell. Wasnt just an ECU map.

Bigger turbo
Bigger intercooler.
Stronger internals
Different intake.

Apologies if this has already been posted, pretty cool stuff by Ford to have Ken involved in the launch for the media.

From KB Facebook

"A few weeks ago Ford filmed a fun clip of me hooning a Focus RS test mule all around their factory in Cologne, Germany. That clip was used to introduce me in the actual RS launch event yesterday. As the video finished on screen, it transitioned to me actually driving into the RS launch event in person - where I did some slides and donuts live for journalists and media. I was really stoked at all the work Ford put in to feature me in this way - being part of the RS program and this event was a huge milestone for me."

If you watch the replay of the launch it shows the above, think I said it in the other RS thread but he seemed really nervous which surprised me.

In the launch vid there is a snippet were KB yanks the handbrake and spins, resulting in the rear corner lifting a fair bit.

This may sound stupid but does anyone know if the handbrake has been beefed up? Or do you get free life time adjustments when serviced at Ford..hehe

I'm stoked that this thing will be AWD. I've driven a Golf R and a Scirocco R so I can comfortably say that the AWD Golf R was a lot nicer to drive than the FWD Scirocco. I didn't exactly notice the weight difference between the two, but that was one of the reasons why Ford had opted out of going down the AWD route... until now! The benefits of AWD on a turbocharged hot 4 cylinder vehicle FAAAR outweigh any downside of weight gain. And besides, all the weight of the AWD system is added to the rear of the vehicle which makes it a lot more palatable than converting a conventional RWD vehicle to AWD.

Well done Ford! Go hunt some Rexies and Golfs!

Impressive times! If it's true that the RS will have an even better version of this motor (turbo), combined with being lighter and having AWD, one can only imagine how formidable this RS combination of 2.3L Ecoboost + AWD will be!

Is there anyone else thinking the old shape represented much more of a WRC stance . I think I for one like the old shape better.

I love the guy but not that it matters....anything he touches is a ground up custom fire breather. KB knows what he's on about tho. If peeps in his circles say they'd like a 4wd then ford better listen

It will be interesting how this goes against the STi both on price and performance. Subaru might be in for a scare here still having old engine, less power and less torque.
Not to mention the wrxs notorious jap interiors, build quali and tech. Not that it's bad but ford has ALOT of aces up its sleeve to get this VERY right!

I think it's meant to look like he's stealing the car or trying to get it out of the compound fast......hence they've edited it to make him look nervous about getting cornered by an auto bot
And I think when the wheel lifts up there's a drop away as there's a crossing and and a painted island which will always be high spots in a Tarmac surface......so he was probably just dropping off that a bit. You don't see the other sides up close as he goes over it.
And as for the handbrake......who knows, but I doubt they'd touch it as it probably gets a once over by some lucky premo journos at the launch and that wouldn't look good if it got out it had been beefed up to drive like it's advertised it can

Cool vid! Bet he can't wait to get another 600 hourse power into it

Hmmm I like the fatter guards and the bigger lowwer grill on the older one but the rest is awesome for mine

Agree .........the older one for mine looks to have more of a performance presence ..the fatter guards , and flatter panels , and the one piece passenger glass .. but must also agree , with AWD , and the other performance improvements , the gear in the new car will be awesome .

I prefer the more aggressive body rake on the new one though, I think it's all in the side window profile.

I think the old one needed flared guards to run wider tyres but the new model runs 235's in some models already, possibly negating the need for flared guards?

Or they chose to ditch them and put the money saved towards the AWD system?

Watched an IV on YouTube with a Ford engineer and that's exactly what they did.
