Angry P2008 engine fault code, 2008 2.0L Focus

Hi Guys, had this fault for a while, with the orange engine light coming on.

Disconnecting battery turns it off for a short period of time, but it comes back on, and intermittently make the car drive like its towing 50tonnes of lead.

Bought a fault code scanner and got P2008 code, and WONT let me reset it.

Been researching what it is, and really haven't found a lot that makes sense.

Wondering if anyone can shine some light on this?

Cheers, Leakey

BTW, car is regularly serviced by myself, inc. sparks, filters, fluids etc.
Drives like a rocket when this isn't on....

OK, couldn't find this thread before.... but it came up in a google search.

http://fordforums.com.au/showthread.php?p=5009765

Looks like it might be the same issue discussed there.

IMRC solenoid assembly.

I know a few of you are wrecking LTs, if you are reading this, please let me know, especially if you are in Sydney.

Also, still keen to hear from anyone regarding this fault.

Leakey

Definitely the same issue I had - same symptoms and same error code.

Have a go at fixing it yourself, should only take 15 mins and isn't difficult at all.

Same thing here, 2006 LS 2.0. Engine light on, P2008 Intake Manifold Runner Circuit open on bank1, no power, hard to start when hot etc. Fixed it today for $80. IMRC solenoid fault.

IMRC solenoid fault it was!! (is a new version to what was on the 2008)

Paid $82.25 at Brad Garlic Ford, swapped it in 10 mins, and she runs like a pocket rocket again.

Thanks so much for the advice fellas.

Interestingly though, the P2008 fault code wont go using the dongle I bought. Nothing seems to clear it.

Any advice for that?

It may be a what I call a "hard logged DTC" - ecu has seen the same fault so many times it wont clear it unless dealer IDS software is used.
Its rare but Ive had customers who cant clear certain DTCs with their own handsets but our dealer software clears them no problem.
But then a lot of generic aftermarket scanners wont show all the logged DTCs. Ive come across some that a Snap on Scan tool cant even see let alone clear but a Bosh one can see and clear it. (why we now only use the dealer software for Ford, Mazda, Jag and Range Rover/Land Rover vehicles)

OR you had 2 faults and you have only fixed the one and you aren't aware of the other fault as your scan tool isn't seeing it.

Without seeing your car and looking on a real-time data logging display that's my best guess.

Hey thanks for the info OEM'

I use two programs, one showed the P2008, and another that showed (2) x faults, which I could find no relevant information about.
