Default AU Ford 1999 A/C - Heater Switch

Hello, moved my temperature switch from cold to hot for a couple of days then when i put it back all the way around in the blue for the A/C it is only blowing cool air and not cold air like before. Any suggestions please?
Thank you
Jim

Does the a/c button still light up when pressed? if it does then A/C system may need to be re-gassed as its on the way out but if the button lights up when you push it in but doesnt stay on when you release it then its either a fault or the system definately needs to be re-gassed as from memory when they loose pressure the switch will not hold in and will just be the fan blowing air through.
Only other thing can think of is that either one of the hoses has come off the back of the centre dash sourround where the switch is which is pretty unlikely or heaterbox has a fault cant remember exactly what breaks down or if its the fairmont one that has that problem but eitherway it shouldnt be too hard to figure out, any a/c re-gass specialist should be onto it pretty quick.

The temp control is done by a cable to the fan/heater box. Sometimes the cable can slide out of the clip that holds it in place, but I’ve only seen that on cars that have been played around with (center fascia out)

Below is the item I am talking about, circled in red. It is located behind the glove box.

Best bet is to try this first and re set it

Open the glove box and disengage the limit pins by pulling the sides of the glove box inwards (figure 2). Lower the glove box and firmly lift the right hand side corned to disengage the hinges. Maneuver the glove box from the dash. (Figure 3)

If this doesn't fix your problem, then I’d be looking at the AC system, starting with the condenser in front of the radiator.

Cheers

try this.......do the cable reset ,whats happened is the cable(BEHING THE GLOVEBOX) has come loose and dosnt engage the white LEVER far enough for the aircon to kick in ,UN FIXED THE LEVER ONLY ALLOWS ENOUGH FOR WARM AIR TO THE FEET AND SEMI COLD TO THE FACE (SOUNDS SILLY I KNOW) IT MAY BE MIXING BOTH WARM AND COLD AIR TOGETHER (IM NOT SURE)
took me 3 days to work out why I was getting semi cold air via the top ducts and warm air to my feet when in the mode marked with cold/blue to the face a red/hot to the floor.
after the reset the cable now pulls the lever fully to the right and engages the aircon to both face and feet ,
before the reset all I got in red/blue mode was semi cold air at 13deg to the face and what ever air temp it was out side the car TO my FEET
.in every other mode on the dial all I got was very semi cold air 12deg to14 deg((checked on my digital thermostat with a probe))) .....after the cable reset I now get a freezing 6deg at the face vents and 8deg to 10deg via the floor vents.
heating and aircon now work 100%.........SOMTHING AS SIMPLE AS A LEVER NOT ENGAGING BY THE TINYEST OF BITS MAKES A HUGE DIFF..TOOK ME 3 DAYS AN A S%IT LOAD OF READING B4 I EVEN HAD AN IDEA WERE TO START......JUST BUY CHANCE I HAD THE AIRCON ON AND PUSHED THE LEVER FULLY TO THE RIGHT TO FINd MY AIRCON was making the digital thermo drop like a rock from 14 degs down to 6 deg in 3 minutes (talk about luck) when I pushed the lever every thing WAS working and engaging FINE AND ALL THAT WAS NEEDED WAS THE CABLE TO BE RESET...I WAS GONNA REGASS,PULL DASH,REPLACE AIR COMP,U NAME IT I WAS GOING TO DO IT TO BE COOL HERE IN ADELAIDE in the summer of 2013 AND IN THE END IT WAS A LOOSE CABLE BEHIND THE GLOVE BOX................I KNOW IM POSTING ON AN OLD THREAD (I DID IT IN CASE ANY OTHERS HAVE THE AIRCON ISSUES THAT AROSE FROM WHEN MY CABLE LOOSENED BY MISTAKE AS I DID,,CHEEERS....IF YOU GET SEMI COLD AIR VIA ALL DUCTS,OR SEMI COLD TO THE FACE WITH WARM TO THE FLOOR(TRY THE ABOVE IT MAY JUST WORK FOR YOU AS IT DID FOR ME) AND THE BEST OF ALL>>>IT COST SWEET FA
PS AS ABOVE POST STATES>>>I DID HAVE MY CENTER CONSOLE OUT TO TRY AND FIT THE CLOCK SO ID SAY ON EITHER PULLING IT OUT, OR PUTTING IT BACK IN ( ID MOVED THE CABLE) HOPE THIS HELPS SOMEONE THIS 2013 SUMMER.CHEEERS AGAIN
