Default AU S1 Cruise Control issue.

Hi guys, just having a spot of trouble with the cruise control in my AU, I twist the knob to activate the CC, lights up on dash as "Cruise" and then I press the middle steering wheel button to set it, which lights up as "Set" on the dash, but that is the most it does. From there, if I take my foot off of the acceleration, I'd just slow down to a complete stop. Doesn't matter what speed I'm doing.

I've done a bit of searching on these forums and another, found other issues, but none that are the same as mine. Brake fuse is intact, which is the most trouble shooting I've done thus far.

Any help is vastly appreciated.

Hi Travisty.

I had the same issue on my NL Fairlane, which run the exact same cruise unit. The only difference in the NL I did not have a 'Set' indidicator, meaning my problem could be a little different to what you are experiencing (symptoms where not exactly the same).

The problem that I found was that it was the override switch on the brake master cylinder. I replaced it and all was good. The only difference, is I do not know if the 'Set' indicator would come on if this switch was faulty.

It certainly was not expensive for you to try, I found a brand new one at my local Ford Wrecker.

Good luck with it,
Stu

the system is actually setting but not operating the accelerator so it won't be the over ride switch. you will find it is the actuator under the bonnet either the cable has come loose from the throttle body / broken or the motor in it isn't working

Thanks guys for the responses, I'll have a look tomorrow arv, just to be a little more dense, what exactly would I be looking for on the cable to the throttlebody?

if the cable is intact and not loose it will be an actuator fault
