XD 5.8 I would say highway patrol car.
The owners/service manual should give you an idea where it was serviced/worked on so would give you an idea where it was stationed/used when in service.

Bought the car from car yard in 1981, who picked it up at police auction, no owners/service books came with it. They must have Souvenired them.

police records don't go back that far to assist you
if you're lucky there might still be the disc with the cars serial # on the lh a pillar inside the door jamb but that's it plus autos were generally metro cars, manuals country cars |

Hey xxx000 the disc with serial no. would that be approx. 20 cent size, brass with 4 digit no. on one side & car's original rego on the other? My XC ex NSW HWP has this & the no. is also hand written on the logbook cover.
I was told the if you pay through (forgotton who - freedom of info?) you can receive the cars service history, repairs, location, etc. |

More than likely a Highway car but definitely not an absolute. There were always a few unmarked 5.8's running around the various squads housed at the old hat factory" in Campbell St. And, they often copped more of a hiding than the marked Highway cars.
