Default Gold Coast Ford dealers

Looking at getting the 90k km service done on the FG as well as some warranty work, anybody have any good or bad experiences with service departments of Sunshine, Champion or Victory Ford? We bought the car from Bryan Bryt but that's a bit far to travel can't afford to have the day off up in Brisbane.

I bought my old AU2 XR8 from Champion at Miami. Shortly after purchase, They failed to fix my earth-shattering & just plain scary brake shudder twice before finally getting it right. I wouldnt recommended them.

Been to Sunshine and Champion with 2 new B series cars, an XR6 and my GT-P. Neither inspired ANY confidence what so ever..

Dont know of the third dealer unless they are the ones on the border who are/were owned by Champion or whatever they are/were called recently.. Never went there as it was too far to go.. My GT-P came from Byrt too and after how the sales people were after I bought it, Id not trust em as far as I could kick em..

I would NEVER get any services done at a Ford dealer, if you want a good service guy PM me and I'll give you the name of the business I use in West Burleigh Heads. He is dear as at around 90 an hour, but very good.. Just get the warranty stuff done at Fords..

Hi, I have been horror stories about the ford dealers in southport. I've had a few ridiculous quotes from the Miami ford (350 for a oil and filter change!). Any of them good for warranty claims?

I bought a 2008 Focus demo from Torque Ford in Strathpine Brisbane.
Discovered rust in hatch a few months later. Took it to the Miami outfit , who took photos, emailed Ford, then on follow up ha d''lost '' photos, sent it back for more photos, heard nothing , bounded in face to face to their servcie guy and had it all fixed up in a couple of days.
I have heard Q Ford at Beenleigh service may be ok.

Cannot find anything good to say about any Ford dealer on Gold Coast. Take my FG XR6 to Midas or Ultratune Labrador while car is under warranty and will service myself when out of warranty in August.

Sunshine wanted to charge me $25.00 just for the radio code on my old AU. Bryan Byrt gave it to me for free.

Recently wanted $145 for blank chipped BA key, and gave a card for a locksmith to cut and program as they don't offer this service.

Not just Ford. I find everything on the Gold Coast is expensive and unreliable, especially tradies.

Everyone is focused on making a quick buck and screw the possible repeat business.

OK, rant over. I'd rather live on GC than Brisbane any day.

Im hearin ya Eldubayu!

The Hyundai dealership were fantastic for warranty claims, southport ford is as dodgy as according to some reports. I have used Miami ford because I walk along the beach until the service is done. Tweed seems ok but who wants to spend a few hours in tweed when they dont have to! lol

I may give Q ford a go if they will lend me a car so I can hang out in Ikea.

How are ford with warranty claims?

My independent garage was telling me yesterday that a local ford dealer had said because they had used a non genuine oil filter they would refuse any warranty claims on the engine from now on.

If you want a non Ford dealer to service your Ford ...I use Auto Leaders Nerang.

1 Diesel Focus and 1 petrol Focus both serviced there since 15000kms now collectively 260000kms-problems -zero.

I even had a headlight bulb blow bought 2 from supercheap and got the wife to drop in-cost-zero.

All services are done on a fixed price quote and every time bar 1 or 2 teh price is less.

As long as the part is a direct replacement for OEM, than they have to honour the warranty. It's the LAW.

Eg. They cannot refuse warranty if the oil filter on my car is a Ryco Z9.
Anybody telling you different should be directed to the Fair Trades Act (or similar).

I have an FG XR6T, and my daughters Focus both serviced at Sunshine. Never had a problem with a warranty claim, cars are back on time. Like all service depts they charge accordingly. they do ring beforehand and try to upsell an injector clean or some other **** but I always refuse.

Haha, they tried that and a radiator flush. Quoted $150.00 extra on top of capped servicing of $199. Car was at 60,000 klms.

I told them that if it was not on the recommended log book service then the manufacturer of the car was not concerned about bad fuel, and poor coolant (which Ford supplied at the last service anyway).

So I declined their generous offer [insert sarcasm here] ....... Bloody Dealers.

Although it's more expensive I liken it to the upsell at the servo when buying fuel, sometimes I dont really need it but stuff it I'll have it anyway. There is no law against it. You go to Hardley Normal and whilst you but the TV they upsell the gold plated connections.

If you want someone decent and honest:

Motive Mechanical Ashmore (kamholtz court) (07) 5539 5151

Steve has to be the most honest suspension/brake/mechanic I have used on the Gold Coast, after 6 other people tried (and I spent $$$$$$$), he was the only bloke to sort out the shudder in my BF. He's also the only bloke on the goldy that can do an alignment on an XR and get the wheel straight too.

Have also used http://www.coltechautomotive.com.au/ - Col is a mobile mechanic and is very good with late model Fords.

That could partly be due to Miami Ford using the most expensive synthetic oil while the others use something like Castrol GTX mineral oil or something.

It's gotta have gold flakes in for that price. I have been lied to about accessory pricing there too.

It's a shame that there are plenty of unwitting customers willing to pay that ridiculous price.
An oil change (Penrite oil) and a filter costs me about $120 at my local indy mechanic.

For my AU, and now BA every 10K klms:
5L Shell Helix HX7 from Supercheap $34.99
1 Ryco Z9 Oil Filter from Supercheap $6.99
Less than 1 hour of my time.

I hear you mate.
I had to write a two page letter to the dealer principal before I could get any action from the "service department". After that I wrote a damning letter to the CEO at Peter Warren Ford, Sydney (the owner of Sunshine) and never went back.

From then on I always got Southside Ford at the Gabba to do any warranty work. All other work and servicing was always done by a private workshop.
