Default Supercharged HSV's on the way?

Going by this article, it looks as though the VF HSV'S will be getting a down rated version of the LS9 supercharged engine and the SS will be getting the 6.2l. Interesting times ahead then.

Or maybe just a higher-rated LS3 for the HSV's? Wonder what the LSA will cost per unit?

Everybody else is saying carryover engines for at least another year.

The only link to LS3 equipped Holden's is the Chevy SS, but the track record shows the American models always got more. GTO had a 260kw LS1 when we had 235-245kw. Then it got the LS2 when Holden had the L76/L98. The G8 also had the LS3 for cheaper than we did but did have the cheaper V6/V8.

KW for KW they seem to do ok against the Ford.

I would put my money on a 320rwkw N/A LS over a 320rwkw 5.0 S/C any day of the week.

I wouldn't put money down against 320rwkw of turbo power I6 though.

If Holden was worried about power selling cars then they would have done something already.

What's the HSV VS FPV sales over the last 2 years?

They were worried enough when BA launched to bump SS 10kw and standard HSV's 25kw, despite no performance need as they were still ~150kg lighter.

it's very unlikely that we will be seeing the supercharged LS9 is a common R8, that engine is just too expensive ... a higher end 100K GTS model however could possibly come with the LS9 in the future.

The latest 2014 LS1 from the Corvette would probably be the best case scenario for HSV this year.

And HSV dumped the GTS when the GT was released because you could get similar power (290kw GT versus 300kw GTS) for approximately $25k less.

The GTS survived against a 285kw Clubby, i dont think a 290kw GT was of much concern as that. They dumped it when Clubby got the LS2 and went 297kw.

SS will carry over current engine, overseas model Chev SS will have the LS3 to themselves for a while. Smack in the face for Aussie consumers, but I guess they need to stretch out the ongoing good news for VF with mid life updates etc.

There will be 1 supercharged VF HSV model only at launch.....presumably GTS or a more upmarket version similar to the "old" GST prior to its first deletion. Higher rated LS3 for base models upon launch is the word.

Interesting times.

From memory the LS3 in current form was detuned for a minimal progression from LS2.(Was only used since LS2 ceased production)

I can't see them wasting money engineering the LSA for use when they still have development potential in the LS3 Engine.

Actually off the top of my head in the transition from 307 to 317 I don't think torque was touched.(unsure about 325).

They already sell more than FPV why do they need to waste precious funds on an unnecessary ****ing contest?

You sure the raise in badge number was through worrying?

The ****ing contest isn't about one uping FPV (as HSV have said on numerious ocassions, they don't see FPV as direct competition as such, it's very rare that a diehard Holden or Ford fan would change brands), it's about making a new model that bit more powerful than the old one, encouraging existing owners to upgrade because it has a bigger number on the boot!

we often assume that people not on LS1 and here are just like us.

Most people do cross shop. Most "Diehard Fans" on both sides cannot afford the new offerings, its the bloke who runs a small business, or is in middle management that is in the majority, and he just wants the best car.

One of my counterparts has gone E1 GTS, FG 315 GT, and now E3 R8.

Agreed very common...I have a FG GT 335 and a VE SSV Ute...what can I say, best of both, although I would have preferred the Maloo over the SS haha.

For me though I just preferred at the time the GT over the Clubby and I cannot come to like the FG ute, the SS Holden Ute for me is a better package than what Ford have on offer...
