Default The Employment Thread

Bored as hell between jobs, so I thought I'd create a thread asking What do all ya'll do for a living?

If you're not comfortable disclosing what you do for a job then that's cool, just skip this, but I thought it'd be an interesting opportunity to see what all the fellow Ford lovers on here do for a crust?

So, What do you do?
How long have you been doing it?
How did you stumble into it?
Is it your calling?
What do you enjoy about it most?
Maybe post a couple cool pics of your job...

Obviously, don't post anything negative that your employer may see if they visit these forums

I guess I'll start:

What do you do? I'm a Crane Operator, starting a new job next week at the Australian Marine Complex, assembling huge modules and loading barges for the Gorgon Project.
How long have you been doing it? About 18 months, previously worked at the Perth International Airport installing the new Av-Gas fuel lines for Air BP. Saw some pretty cool stuff (see pictures).
How did you stumble into it? Did a fitting and machining apprenticeship when I was a youngster, part of our training was to get our Dogman ticket. S I've had my Dogman ticket for 5 or 6 years, and I worked with some massive cranes out there, always thought it'd be cool to drive one. A place I finished working at a couple months ago had their crane driver injure his back, so I put my hand up to get my ticket. They let me, and I've loved doing it ever since.
Is it your calling? Well unless my band gets famous, then I don't see why not Most guys get in to cranes when they're older to relax in the aircon, I figured why not do it from an earlier age, it pays well and is relatively easy going.
What do you enjoy about it most? I enjoy the challenge of the bigger more complex lifts and the responsibility that comes with it. And the pay

Here's a couple pics from my previous job at the airport. I can't get any at my current job as it's in the Naval Base, so no photos allowed. I saw a massive Submarine and some huge navy ship today on large stands with scaffolding, looked incredible, never seen a Submarine before.

South African plane, they always have cool paint jobs:

Saw some cool stuff not many average joes would see, such as Clinton's plane. THAT was impressivle. Absolutely massive. Other cool things such as planes landing in wet weather, makes a huge wave infront of the engine and a huge wake behind it. Really cool to see in action. I used to be terrified of planes, but after seeing them 10 hours a day every day, they are beautiful machines, and hats off to the pilots that fly them, saw them land in some pretty hairy weather conditions, all crossed up sideways

Looking forward to seeing some interesting posts ahead!

EDIT - Sorry about the pics, I can't embed DropBox pictures on here, so if you can be bothered, just copy and past the link adresses in to a new window and view them that way.
