Hi just wondering if somebody can help me out with what type of auto tranny fluid to use in a 2003 focus as all i can find is a reference to mercon v which is an american fluid what fluid do we use in oz , thanks in advance for your help ....damian

Where did you find the Mercon mentioned?
Do the older boxes need a service? My Focus is a little newer, but it references the 4sp auto box as a 'sealed for life' unit. Prob best to ask a transmission specialist or call a Ford dealership andd see what they say.

Sealed for life usually means short life! To get the longest out of a transmission you need to change the fluid every few years and ensure they have a external transmission cooler.
Castrol site will give you a way to check what transmission fluid they recommend for the model. |

Hi. Castrol and Shell list as refer to dealer and valvoline say maxlife synthetic but not for CVT type autos. Best to talk to your dealer. Cheers MD

hi yellow fiesta googled the car year and model 2003 has tranny dipstick all info came up with usa fluids found penrite oil aftt m5 is the equivalent one to use here in oz thanks for reply
