Hi Guys
Ive just got myself an AU2 Fairmont wagon 6cyl. It starts and runs really good and idles around 800-900rpm smoothly but when i put it into gear (reverse or drive) the revs drop to around 400-500rpm and it seems to run rough and sometimes sort of splutters a bit when i accelerate.Once its running it drives beautifully around town and open road. What would be the best things to start checking? Cheers Dwayne

Try cleaning throttle body and ISC first, easy and free. Then I'd be looking at the intake manifold gasket, it seems to be a common failure. About $15 and a couple hours work with a 10mm ratchet spanner. Normal idle speed is 550 rpm so they are hard to get completely smooth at idle... I've replaced/checked almost everything on mine and can still feel a slight vibration at idle, but it runs fine otherwise.

Hey guys quick update i had a look at the intake manifold bolts (DAM THEY ARE TRICKY TO GET TO) and got about half a turn out of each, I didnt think half a turn would make a difference but wow what a difference, It is idleing awesome now!! No shaking at all. I will get a new gasket for it at some stage. Now im going to give the throttle body a clean to see how that goes.
Cheers for the help
