Of course 30-odd cents a litre would be great now. But then it wouldve been like paying $1.80p/l for most.

Thread fail.
On RBA's website that works out to be 70 cents adjusted for inflation in 2011, going on flat rate of 30 cents in 1986.

Insightful. I stand corrected. Either way, it reinforces my point of how little they had to worry about in '86.

Interest rates were between 13-15% in 1986.

Actually, it would be $1.28 in 2011 so depending on the day, it hasn't changed that much affordability wise.

30c is what the government got - the actual price is written 2 above it.

Ahh... he has reason to complain.. its 1986.

Its like saying gee bread was cheap in 1986 compared to todays price.

In 1986 it WASNT cheap... look at the average wage and compare it to today.

Yeah but everything else was relative in 1986 as well I'm guessing, wages etc.

Last year Bathurst was run on a public road. Since 1987 the Bathurst track has become a race circuit which the public can drive on.

Id prefer today's fuel prices, rather than their computer prices.
