then if you drive the car its in limp home mode.

The work carried out at a auto electricians was as follows:
i have had my ecu replaced (tested with and without the chip) and they also replaced a sensor or two, but the problem is still there!! :

Sounds like a big vacuum leak or something somewhere. That'd explain the rough idle and running rich if it somehow affected your MAP sensor, and possibly vacuum lines to your Climate Control.

Is the runner switching module thing plugged in alright?

I don't know how that would affect your transmission though, unless the computer has some mode it goes to if you have...you know..big vacuum leaks and stuff.

it has all the hallmarks of a busted/dissconected MAP sensor.

I agree, a while ago I looked at a mate's car that was running like crap and blowing clouds of black smoke. Found that the Vacuum line was off the MAP. The ECU runs very rich in this condition. Check that your MAP is getting vacuum and that it is connected properly. If it still does it, borrow a MAP and try that to see if yours is dead.

if the vac is off the map sensor, the ISC will be wide open, most likely idle all over the place.
will run as rich as anything as the car assumes WOT conditions so tries to fuel accordingly.
