As some of you know, I picked up my new car last week. Its an EL GLI, 140thou kays. Got it through a private sale, with rwc, and full ford service history, and in top condition. Well, after having it for a week, I thought id let you all know what has been done so far:P
Converted all four doors to power windows EF fairmont door trims Fairmont Cluster Trip computer Painted console surround CD player Subs and amp Lowered pedders suspension Fairlane sun visors Larger intake snorkle Fairmont side moulds and Finally, Ive just finished fitting up the extractors and cat. In the next couple of weeks, ill take it in to have the rest of the exhaust fitted (bloody thing is 6 inches too long to fit), and also hopefully have enough money to get two new tyres so I can fit the 17's back on. Once that is all done, I still have the wade came to fit, as well as the rest of the stereo, and fit the lsd center to the diff (bloody crappy 3:08 ss). I also have on order an xr kit (front, rear and side skirts, no wing) which should be here in the next two weeks. Ill also hopefully be pulling the manual box out of the fairlane next week, but im still unsure if ill fit it, or sell it along with the ecu (any one looking for an el xr6 manual ecu  ) Ill get some pics up later, if it ever stops raining |

hehe good to have another EL running around up here so when are u up for a cruse mate? woree maccas is on tonight but im still contimplating as its fairly wet atm:P LOL.

Wont be making maccas for a couple of weeks (keep forgeting about it, and I start to drink lol). If you remind me, I might be able to make next week (might have the cam fitted by then). Talking of meets, the local ford club is having its first meeting of the year on Australia Day, do you know about it? If you're interested, ill give you the details. I was thinking about going just for the hell of it lol.

lol. they are comming, i promise. Got the rest of the zorst fitted today, sounds a fair bit quieter than the lane, even though its the same system. Must be because of the cam me thinks.... guess ill find out over the weekend when I fit it lol

Thats it, plus I was starting to get bored with the lane. On another note, started to remove the cam from the fairlane today, but two of the bloody rocker bolts have rounded (even with a single hex head), so thats gonna put back the install a little grrr:(

You shoulda hammered a 3/8 socket on to the ones that started rounding. If they're completely buggered now you'll be best off grinding the heads off and getting some vice grips on to them.

yeah, think ill get a disk for the grinder, and to it that way. Just have to do it without damaging the rocker gear, cause I want to use it all on the new car, as its already shimmed up for the cam, and the lifters are under 10thou kays old. Ill give the 3/8 a go first though, and see if that works.
Also, can anyone tell me the proper way to remove the chain tensioner, and how to install it again? Do I need any tools other than a socket? |
