There is plenty of variety (different maps, require differnt tactics - that would be the same as on the pc) Plus different types of online play are great (deatchmatch, team death match, capture the flag etc - although I presume that would be on the pc version too) I played MW2 on the weekend and something went wrong with the host (started getting bad lag and thought the game would crash) The game paused, selected a new host and just kept going which I was impressed with.

Sometimes it can take awhile to find a game but all in all its good fun

ah ok sounds similar to the pc setup. They have no dedicated servers for the first time and it's really stuffed up the online play for pc gamers. The pc format is the same as the console one now so how good your game is depends on the hosts connection and pc specs.

And if the host leaves the game switches to a new host which can cause lag. Should be better on the console as everyone has the same system specs.

Won't stop me getting it though

PC version is better. Controls and graphics are the main points.
Lag isnt really related to a particular system, its more related to where its located.

I agree pc version would be better for controls - I didnt know about the graphics, the graphics on the ps3 look good and the frame rate is great. I used to play a lot of games on the pc (I didnt like the ps3 controls initially) I think the reason why ps3 and xbox are popular is the simplicity. You turn the system on and play the game - plus a ps3 or xbox are realively cheap (compared to their pc counterparts) and dont seem to require upgrades as regularly - but maybe a lot of that has changed recently (in years gone by I spent a lot of money on updating my pc's, plus configuring them to play certain games or configuring the games to get better frame rates, then the damn thing would crash)

On PC you are generally running a greater resolution.
Most PS3 games run at 1280x720.

PCs run at 1680x1050 or 1900x1200

PC definitely will have better graphics (granted your PC is powerful enough to run the game at best or close to best settings) along with controls (for specific game types, mainly FPS and RTS whereas it is horrible for games like God Of War, fighting games etc) and online play. If you don't have a PC or one powerful enough consoles really aren't that far behind anymore and are not at all a compromise.

One game I couldn't get out of my PS3 till I absolutely completed it was Heavy Rain, truly an amazing experience and a game that really is for adults not just in content but also in its core gameplay.

One game I couldn't keep in my PS3 was Final Fantasy XIII, biggest disappointment in a long time. I am not even going to complete it as i'm gonna sell it now to get as much money back as possible.

You guys should buy Just Cause 2. I bought it on PS3 yesterday, and it's a ton of fun. I have played almost 5 hours so far, and have only down a couple of missions. Just been exploring the map which is 400Miles (1000KMs) long.

Got mw2 the other day and must admit I wasn't impressed. Graphics seem poor compared to bad company 2. mulitplayer is better than I thought though.

Just so dissapointed with the graphics.

On PC. If you were to get it and you have a decent PC, that's the platform you should opt for. More development, more aftermarket support, heaps less dollars.

have to agree atm, takes awhile to level up but visually and gameplay it's far more enjoyable. Just need more people in some games and a way to quickly knock out those damn choppers!

Yeah, it takes a while to get really good, once you get further into the game, unlock the cars and the extra customisations or play online its great.

Hey I've been looking at PlayTV for a while, keep convincing myself I should be studying instead of watching telly! How do you find the EPG works with it? The inbuilt EPG on my LG telly only shows what's on the channel I'm watching at that time - other channels show no available info. I'd imagine if it was more to do with poor reception that the preset recording with the PlayTV would be useless :(

Do you keep your shows on the PS3 HDD or are you able to transfer them to an external HDD?

Bought Ferrari Challenge about a year ago, just picked it up again the other day and had a bash. It's a great game, if a little graphically unpolished, but it takes forever to finish - iirc a race weekend takes around half an hour to finish, and there's around 40 race weekends, should keep you entertained for a bit!
