Default How To Intsall Guages

ey guys i want to connect elec water & oil guages.
can i just put the water sensor into the radiator hose?

or is there away to connect it to the ecu?? because when you open the diagnostics in the lcd piece on the dash is shows water temp??

also for the oil sender for the guage were can i put that.
i was told there is a plate you can get which goes between the block and oil filter and you scraw the sensor into that.
but i dont think thats correct.

the water temp sensor you will probably have to put into the hose. i think there is some sort of adaptor that you acn use, you cut a chunk of the hose out and put this alloy thing in there, it has a thread tapped into it for fitting a temp sensor. the factory one will probably be a different resistance to that one, so it won't work properly or at all.

as for the oil sender, yes, there is a plate you an put there. you can also use them to run an engine oil cooler off. have a look on ebay, and probably performance shops. it has a threaded section that screws onto the thread in the block that normally mounts the filter, and an o ring on the top to seal it to the block, then the oil filter mounts as normal. i think most / all of the t series cars ran these from the factory, but used a different oil filter, a smaller one i think, i have a feeling some of the 220kw xr8's did too

this gives you an idea of what they look like http://cgi.ebay.com.au/NEW-OIL-COOLE...3286.m20.l1116
and this is the spacer thing you were told about

the aus do not have a water temp sensor as such, instead a head temp sensor, which doubles for water temp. i would just purchase and EF-L thermostat housing and fit the aftermarket water temp sonsor into that (thats where they used to be).

as for oil pressure, go to pirtek and purchase a t-adapter for the oil pressure switch and fit the oil pressure sender into that. (next to oil filter on block)

dont worry bout the last one done it.

as for the water sensor which hose does it go in top or bottom?
which way does the water flow?
from the bottom hose through the motor and out the top back to the radiator or is it the other way around???
