My '99 dual fuel ( 125 Klms ) runs ok on gas but I'm experiencing a lack of power on petrol.
At first I thought it was a blocked fuel filter and replaced it, as a result no change in performance. I had a mechanic look at it and he said it was either injectors or fuel pump and wants to replace both. I figure that as both petrol and gas go through the injectors, the injectors would be ok. Am I correct in assuming this ? Any thoughts guys ? |

Has it always been like that yeah? i had an ef duel fuel that went hard on gas and pretty sluggish on fuel, i was told that it was just tuned to run favourably on gas...

lpg does not go through the petrol injectors. get the fuel pump changed first, they aren't too expensive, i got one of the cheapie ebay jobs about 18 months ago and haven't had any problems with it.

have you tried running a bit of injector cleaner through fuel system? i have no clue if it will make a difference but i would give it a try first ....its cheap.

dont go racing out to get injectors and pump replaced!!! first things first, find a work shop that can pressure test your fuel system and clean your injectors. both these wayas are much cheaper then replacing the items straight off the bat. my guess though would be that the injectors need a good clean. my fuel pump seemed ok until one day i couldnt really drive around on petrol, it'd just stall and i couldnt even tap the throttle without it stalling. once i changed that all good. i got out of that really cheap though...free in fact. working at a LPG conversion center where we pull out petrol tanks on 4wd to fit LPG tanks, i simply used one of these pumps (landcruiser one) required a bit of a re-wire, but it took me all of 5 minutes....once i had dropped the tank out of the wagon!!! in a sedan its easier to do as the pump is accessable throught the floor in the boot.
