Default Domain Tunnel speed camera's

Hey guys.

Went through the Domain tunnel (google says there are 2 speed camera locations in there.

Does anyone know?

Reason I ask is because we went through it in my car and a friend was driving.
At one stage in the domain she decided to go 100kmph. She was at that speed for a about 2-3 seconds (100 meters before tunnel exit going in) until we said wtf and she slowed down.

It's a rather big concern because it's a stain on my clean driving record not to mention an awkward situation with my friend who was driving. OH and 20kmph over sounds like a big fine.

If anyone knows where exactly the Camera's are it would confirm whether or not we got caught. And hopefully put my mind at peace.

Thanks

Thanks.

Just make your friend pay the fine if you receive one.

There is no flash cameras so you wont know for a couple of weeks.

There is a camera few hundred metres before entrance and two more 1/2 and 3/4's in.

If you werent driving you can nominate the other person who then receives the fine and the demerits. 20k's over is an expensive one!!!!

If you do get a fine in the mail all you do is fill out a stat declaration and she will cop the fine and points.

Sometime ago I was told, there are 3 parallel lines running across the road wherever the cameras are in the tunnel. 20km/h over the limit is $220 and 3 demerit points.

She decided to speed up 3/4 in, saw no flash though but I was more concerned going "wtf??? slow down"

Should I feel prickish at all sending the fine her way?

I guess it's a lot worse if she expects me to pay for something I didn't do.

she is the driver - she is responsible for ALL the people in the car.
the fine has a section wherer you can nominate that you weren't the driver. get her to sign that she was and its not your problem.

She was driving - her responsibility, and the fact that she was being irresponsible is even more reason to ensure she pays it.

One thing though - you must have fixed your car a bit if it shot from 80 to 100 in 2 to 3 seconds.

Cheers Davway.

I guess all I need to worry about is if she won't sign which is unlikely.

you can always head to the police station and make a Statutory Declaration that you were not the driver.
also, as part of the fine, you should also have the option to buy the photo - this should show (if its a front on pic) who the driver was.
between that Stat Dec and the pic and some friendly persuasion towards the actual driver, you should be able to get her to sign it.

Thanks again.

She's a good friend and I'm confident she won't screw me.
There's a chance we didn't get flashed (Extremely unlikely though) and hopefully I won't have to put her in a money situation (Like me she has none lol).

I realise if she doesn't sign then she's not a good friend meaning different actions will be taking place. But I'm not really going to worry about that since it's extremely unlikely that she'd screw me over.

Dude, why would you let your female friend drive your car anyway?

It's 80km/h from Warrigal Road to Williamstown Road. Why the hell would anyone speed up, if it's 80km/h for so long?

Good luck with it.

I had been drinking.

To that second question my head hurts from trying to comprehend it. As in I'd have no idea why she'd speed through one of the most obvious speed camera locations in the state. You'd have to ask her.

Most of my friends can't drive smoothly and I never understood how they can drive they way they do:

Eg: Sit as far left as you can in your lane and eventually drift out, accelerate too hard on turns and turning sharp in general ( even just going around a curve on the Monash I always feel a sharp jolt and the entire cars weight is shifted instantly).

I mean I never understood how it's so hard for some to drive smoothly.

Sorry for the random rant lol. I hope it all goes well too and hopefully there was no camera flash as we didn't see one.

She was driving your car, She is responsible. End of story. In the future if i were you, i would choose wisely as to who drives your car.

Are those speed camers in the tunnel actually operating??
Reason I ask I because I drive through those tunnels everyday, hovering between 80 - 100K and have never been done.
The one on Punt rd bridge operates, I know that for fact

By the domain tunnel. do you mean the short tunnel between the harbour tunnel and eastern distributor ? If so ther is no cameras in that section.
The cameras are in several relocatable location in the harbour tunnel and in the flat sections in the ED, both ways. There are also NO FLASHES on any of the cameras as they have IR flashes and are not visable.
As you have not told us what city or state, I gather it is the Domain in Sydney.

Used to be 30, now >25km/h over the limit gets you 4 points and a 1 month holiday from driving.

Regarding the driver - if your friend racks up a speeding fine driving your car and you let them know about it. The only thing they should say is "I'm sorry, what do I have to do to to get it put in my name?" Anything else and they're not really a friend are they. You asked them to drive your car, not speed. If anything, driving someone else's car you should be more careful.

The only circumstance where you might pay the fine is if they were keeping the speedo at or under the limit, and your speedo was out 10km/h or more, putting them over.

BTW, you don't have to get them to sign anything. You sign the back of the Infringement notice nominating them as the driver and a new infringement notice is posted to them. End of problem
