Default An X series fat coupe in Palliative care.......

I have been on Russell Island In QLD for a couple of days.

I found this retired coupe on one of the more remote roads.

Two things I learnt:

1. Russell Island is an untapped gold mine.

2. Salt air makes these cars go to bits.

It is worth studying - a lesson in where they rust!

Sorry to go off topic, but i have an old x series falcon and i live near the beach. Its garaged 24/7, and ive always wondered, will it rust itself to hell even though its covered? That coupe makes me want to cry.

Its an XA - it presumably was red once; then a white GS/GT with black paintouts - and now?

Crush it. Not even enough left to make moulds out of for the repro industry. Which interestingly still no one has bothered to do. But yes - crush it - so that WE aren't crushed any more by looking at it.

Total right, off wont even get scrapped it would cost you like $600 just to get it to the mainland and a shat load of trouble. For the non QLD's the only way to get a car to russel island is by barge.

Boys will just have to drink to it, another coup returned to the ground from which it came.

Would have to be a cheap project - at least the purchase would be cheap. The project might run to $30k and thats just the bodywork. Very sad, but thats where we need to move faster, if someone had grabbed it when it was parked it would have probably been redeemable.
It actually loks only slightly worse than some of the cars with "island Rego" lol.

Barge from mainland return is about $80.00 so to return to mainland would be about $120. (thats for a small flat tray truck) But I sam afraid it would only be for burial. She is too far gone.

Makes me smile , when I bought my first coupe back when a 351 that drank petrol at 35C a litre cost me $4500.00 , and I thrashed it badly
