what is ERROR SAFE?

i got a popup on my computer the other day that said error safe has been installed (i suspect the old man) and that i had 16408 critical errors on my computer, to fix them i would have to pay $56 with the credit card,

My question is, has anyone here used it?

Because im very suspicious about anything that comes off the net, especially something that has access to all my files and credit card number etc....

I can't say I know the program, however I use two programs that are both free and available from download.com
1. Spybot; this detects any spyware on your computer and deletes or disables it. It has a free updateable database for the most recent threats.

2. Adaware SE. Once again has an updateable free datatbase and removes adware from your computer.

One more I use but you would if you want the full version have to pay for this one is RegMechanic. The trial version will not fix all errors but most.

EDIT: lol my point is these above programs would detect if it is a spyware or adware program. RegMechanic would fix any errors left afterwards in the registry

i thought 16408 errors was a little OTT, if it was only 1 critical error id be up **** creek, let alone 16408, would explain why it takes 12 minutes to get the net and messenger running....

Error safe is a Virus. Do not pay any money. Iv got the **** on my computer at the moment so I need to format it. It usually gets installed on your comp after looking at dodgy porn sites

Install AVG Free Virus scanner and AVG Anti-Spyware. Both are free and are available from http://free.grisoft.com.
Run them both and clean up and virii or spyware on your PC. 12 minutes to get then net/messenger running sounds like you have a lot of stuff on your PC that you don't know about. I'd check it all out first, and probably avoid doing internet banking until you can guarantee that your PC is safe.

download and run avast over it , then down load and run xpantospy and spy bot to be sure , you wont have a problem after all that and its much cheaper .

I use spy ware doctor. I have found it to be more thourough than every thing else. Just make sute that you get the proper subscription and up date it every time you use your PC. It is $40 odd well spent.

Some of the programs you guys have mentioned are scams. The program besically puts the virus or porn on your comp then makes you pay to keep it away. Alot of the programs look profesional and all but there just scams

What programs mentioned are scams?
I've used AVG, and Spyware doctor, and Avast, and all have worked flawlessly, with out anything sus going on in the background.

What do you mean anything sus going on in the background? If you get a virus and then pay to get rid of it, it will just stop itself from slowing down your computer or causing popups. You dont pay your yearly fee or whatever and it comes back.

You said some of the programs mentioned were scams....., I'm asking you to point out which products, listed in this thread are scams.

Absolutely, AVG is the ducks guts, and free!! I run it daily to clean off the crap you always pick up
