Default Windows getting tinted this weekend..

Hi guys,

As mentioned in the title, i'm planning on getting the windows tinted on my ED this saturday. I used to have 20% darkness 'charcoal black' on my previous EA which looked pretty good IMO but was illegal, 35% darkness is the legal limit apparently :( If there's anyone here that has had 35% tinting done on their cars, can you please post photos of it so i can have an idea what it looks like.
Thanks in advance!

Sam

This is what the 20% tint looked like on a cloudy day.

My mate used to have 5% tint on his burgundy EA ghia, it looked wicked no doubt, but he was a cop magnet! He used to get hassled by toggies big time, and did end up with a canary. That car was later written off, he had to have the tint stripped off before showing it to the insurance company. I've seen 15% & 18% on my mates cars, they look pretty good aswell.

Its not worth the fuss getting anything darker than legal IMO, if the copper wants to be annoying he could just canary you and then you have to get it changed anyway.

edit: heres a pic of mine, darkest legal

you can legally go darker on the back window, and I think it looks better as well.

Just found some info off the Vicroads website;

link

"all windows of a motor vehicle, other than windscreens, available to the driver to obtain a view of the road or other road users must have a visible light transmittance (vlt) of at least 35 per cent. However it is desirable that the light transmittance of windows to the side and ahead of the driver is not reduced below 70 per cent".

is there much visible difference from 35% to say 25% or 20%?

Mine is darkest legal tint as well, or so i've been told but it looks a bit darker, probably because of the paint color

Kommandant, my ED's colour is not that far off yours so hopefully they would look as dark as your windows

Very happy with the tint job! Heaps cooler in the cabin compared to before. Darkest legal with slightly darker tint on the rear was what i ended up getting done

Sam, I had mine done today at the Tint Professor...premium one tint...colour blue. They did a good job with it darker on the back window. Pretty much near 35 %.

Thanks guys! I also got the slightly darker film on the rear. If you have dark colour interior, the tint comes out even darker! ;)
