Granted that wont stop speeding or unsafe driving.
Vic used to allow VicPol to waive infringements, if you were doing under 10kms over the limit, and had a clear 2 year history. For that, you have to write into Vic Pol and admit that you were speeding. It was pretty much automatic approval so long as you met those two conditions. I think they took it away a couple of years ago, as the TAC said it was "sending the wrong message".

Also, anyone remember NSW gov deciding to waive the double demerit points system when they just came out of lock down, and it was during the holiday period? I think the reasoning was not to further burden drivers after harsh lock downs. If that is not an admission of "its not all about safety" I don't know what is.
